How easy is it to change the motor oil
Hi, I have a deposit down for a TLX Type S. I was just wondering how easy it is to do your own oil changes. It seems like Acura attached a big plastic cover on the bottom of the car. I was wondering if it's hard to remove to do the oil change or if I should just pay the dealership $75 to change the oil. I was thinking about buying an oil extractor. Thank you.

If you get an oil extractor, you won't need to remove the cover except to replace the filter. It's not hard at all..

familiarize yourself with the owner's manual here.. you got some homework to do.

Like most recent Honda’s, it’s incredible easy. The cover is small and only requires a flathead screwdriver to remove. The panel easily slides on/off and the drain plug and filter are easily accessible.

Thank you for everyone's input. I decided to get a ramp instead of an oil extractor. I'll also buy a Fumoto oil valve for my new car. Have had one installed in my last 3 cars and it makes changing oils so much easier.

FWIW, not a 2021 TLX but the same basic motor is in the current RDX. Here's the oil change on YouTube, looks similar to most modern Honda's with the engine belly pan.
A oil filter band wrench (KD make nice oil filter wrenches) make it alot easier. You can use a torque wrench on the oil filter or count the 1-8 numerical markings on the side.
IIRC you add 7 once the oil filter seats.

Thanks for the video! It looks simple enough.. I prefer to do my own oil changes on my cars.. at least I know the quality of the oil and filter I'm using. Plus it saves me $45 vs taking it to the dealership.
