Did you opt for the dealer extras Y/N? and why

I am weighing whether to opt in for the dealer extras of ceramic paint protection, underbody sound deadening and interior protection. Just wondering how many went with one, a combination, or all of these options for their new ride.
I have been given a whopping discount on all three services but only for purchasing all three. I am sort of interested in the ceramic paint protection as my car is black on black and that color is notorious for paint swirls. Any additional sound deadening would also be welcome.
In addition the factory options include warranty against surface rust perforation for up to 10 years!
Did you opt for these and if not why not and if so why did you?

I would turn all of it down....none of those are done inhouse , it is all contracted out to third parties... do your own research , find a reputable detailing shop and do it there.

I also turned down all dealer options (and I was getting GM rates for all services).
The saleswomen insisted Acura Canada was providing the ceramic coating services and warrantied their work for 10 years "so you know its good" she said.
I laughed about it in my head......my 07 6mt types is also black and has been ceramic coated by a reputable detailer....and I've done my fair share of detailing also...
Knowing what it entails and how much the dealer charges (even with the discounts), I rather either opt to do it myself, or have a reputable shop do it.

Reasoning: If there is any issues with the work done through the dealer, you best believe they will most likely make you jump through hoops to get it covered under any warranties.
Also, a dealer isn't going to be pay top dollar for detailing, they most likely are contracting it out, and you could end up with a novice detailer without little to no knowledge on how to correctly do the processes.
If they do mess up any portion, not like you can go directly to the person who detailed the car and ask them to fix it.......with a reputable shop you go directly back to the shop with any issues etc.
Just my two cents....

We picked up a brand new '23 RDX Aspec and I was surprised to see the amount of swirls on a brand new car (they definitely ran it through their automated wash).
Come spring, I will give it a nice buff and most likely opt to use a spray on ceramic product to maintain it.

Thanks for your input but that reply was not related to the question which is if you purchased these why and if you did not purhcase them why not.
It is not a question of where did you get them but why did you or why did you not choose them.

I opted out from all of those options. In a nutshell, they are overpriced and you can get better options outside of the dealership since they tend to put mark ups on everything they sell.

As a side note - how you wash and dry your vehicle will determine if you get swirl marks.

The only thing I bought from my dealership was lifetime oil and filter changes, lifetime tire rotations, and lifetime battery replacement.

It was $995, and 2x tire rotation and oil/filter changes easily runs $300/yr, so the break even point is just over 3 years. Anything after that and I’m saving money, especially when considering that the battery will need replaced, and AGM batteries aren’t cheap, so that’s another couple hundred in savings right there.

I agree with what is said above, but I feel like those responses come from folks that know their area, have contacts with other car guys / shops in the area and they can get solid recommendations.

On the van, I got the interior protection package, my daughter spilled some stuff in it when she was a toddler, took it to the dealer, it got cleaned, that’s that. Did I pay more? Yeah very likely, but I sure appreciated not having to dick around with the stain. Also, oddly the interior package gave me a discount when I broke my key…

anyways, short version, if you’re well connected, don’t use dealer, if you have no friends and nobody likes you (my case), dealer can make it easier and give some piece of mind.

Didn’t opt for those things as I know a shop near my house that I can go to and get PPF and ceramic coating protection at a better price and good quality.

The only extra I added in my purchase was tire & wheel protection since I travel about the DC metro and surrounding areas where potholes are rather common and knowing my 20in. wheels & low profile tires are protected with a warranty gives me peace of mind there.

Nope, I decline the extra services. They're not worth it in my opinion. Always remember, everything gets outsourced to the lowest bidder. I would rather choose who does each of the individual services for me. Just my opinion.

The only add on I ever get is the tire/wheel coverage, which I exercised on a couple of my MDXs.
