Complimentary Maintenance (new vehicle)

Hi all,

Just hit 15% on my MID (23' Type S). My vehicle has the 2-year/24k-mile complimentary maintenance. With that being said, at what MID percentage will the dealership do an oil change? Can I get it done prior to it moving down to 5%? Has anyone else used this complimentary maintenance?

Also, for my first oil change, should I run the MID all the way down to 5%, or should I get it changed now?

Thanks!

I've had them to it as early as 30 percent. In my opinion you shouldnt wait until it gets down to 5 percent, get the most out of that 2 yr maintenance.

Perfect! I wasn't sure if they regulated when you can get it done MID percentage-wise. I will definitely be taking it in this week then. Like you said, might as well use it if it's free!

Thanks, again!

interesting, my Acura dealer told me the maintenance minder has to come on for them to perform the service so 20% or less but I’ll ask again since other dealerships are doing them as early as 30%

Yep, I emailed the Service Manager at the dealership where I service my Acura, and he told me 20% or below for the complimentary maintenance. That works for me.

Probably not a big deal for the first few services since basicly an oil change but once you start resetting the minder before it displays what service is needed you defeat it's purpose of alerting you to what type of service is needed since the car thinks it's already been done on the reset. There is not a lot of value in doing service before it is needed and in the long run you may spend more than needed doing premature service not yet needed or miss an item that should have been done since you don't know what the car has determined needs to be serviced at a particular point in time as you are resetting the service minder alerts without seeing them.
