Hello, congrats on the Model 3!
What kind of comparison are you looking for? Tech/features, comfort, driving dynamics, speed?

The TLX Type S easily has the best sounding exhaust in this segment, particularly in Sport+ mode. But obviously Tesla buyers wouldn't be too interested in that.

Interior-wise, the TLX feels more premium with the materials of the interior along with being more spacious for the front occupants. The Model 3 gets the nod for more rear legroom and footroom due to not having the rear axle floor hump.

Driver features lean heavily towards the Model 3 with Autopilot, summon, QoL features, maps, connectivity, etc. The TLX has TJA which works very similar to autopilot but shuts off if car has been stopped for a few seconds (I’d say 5-10 seconds). LKAS works really good but I find that autopilot can manage more curvy roads without intervention.

TLX wins in the audio department with its ELS audio. Tesla has good audio, but ELS adds another level of “depth” and “immersion” to audio.

Ride comfort leans heavily towards TLX as well as driving dynamics when it’s in Sport+ mode. The TLX offers a very plush ride while in comfort but can feel very connected and engaged in Sport+ whereas the Model 3 has standard dampening that leans towards the harsh side. (I’d compare the ride quality of the Model 3 to a TLX in Sport mode).

Model 3 is faster in acceleration and has an instant torque feel whenever getting on the accelerator while having similar range per fill-up/charge.

They are different types of sedans that cater towards different people and are both great vehicles for their price. I find the TLX significantly more fun to drive whereas the Tesla feels very high-tech with very convenient features that can make driving and owning one a breeze. Add the fact that new features are often added with frequent updates is a huge plus.

Hope this answers any questions.

Model 3 is likely faster but the build quality is trash.

That’s a pretty vague statement. In previous years, Tesla QC was known to be subpar. They are excellent vehicles with QC being their Achilles heel.

They have worked on their QC which is why newer vehicles do not suffer from the same QC issues as the earlier models.

Agreed. Current Tesla adopter. Haven't had any issues with my build quality on my model 3. With Tesla, it is a hit and miss but most build are good. You do get the few that get a bad build and go haywire on social media. Drive well and look good. Tesla does need to improve on their interior and sound dampening for the price point they asking. But no regret.

Thank you all for the input. Honestly I don't have much QC issue on the Tesla but do believe Acura material will be better.
I personally haven't had a chance to test drive the Type S, let alone looking at the inside of the vehicle lol.

drove a Turo model 3 and wasnt impressed. it was fast tons of torque so it was fun accelerating. I very unimpressed with the interior. I thought the materials were cheap and the styling was too minimalistic for my taste. the ride quality was horrible, I felt everything it seemed. road and wind noise was unacceptable for a 50k vehicle imho.

I am curious, what year was the Turo? Mine has not had too much wind noise. Maybe I haven't driven on freeway long enough.

OP why worry about the Type-S comparisons on an Acura forum and you don't own one? I'm sure the comments are the complete opposite on the Tesla forum. Even though I have experienced the Tesla, being that you don't own a S or even considering it I find this thread a waste of time. Enjoy your Tesla. That's what's important.
