As I mentioned above. I'm in NJ (North), i'm down to meet up and shoot the shit. If any doubts, i'm sure OP can show me one 0-60 1/4 mile run.

When the Jersey guys meet him for a day of fun & cars that can all be put to bed. If it turns out I am wrong will be more than happy to say so.
BTW the word hater a derivative of hate is so over & misused.

Great testing on the 0-60 times. What may be lost here is that the "competition" can get those numbers without turning off traction control or braking prior to launch. In other words you can get TLX-S performance from a stop with the other competitors without doing anything special which is more the norm and probably less wear/tear on the car and gives you that in everyday driving. I still like the car though. Wish they did better with the color combos. Saw a dark blue, maybe fathom blue, 2021 and it was very sharp. It really is a good looking vehicle.

They probably should have just forgone launch control. It's not really needed on the type S given it's performance. Don't think launch control, although muted, was a feature many buyers cared for or would use in the performance class it is in and those with the higher performance cars use it rarely partly for the reasons you mentioned.

I was actually surprised the Type-S stuck around as well as it did with the G70/Stinger. 0-60 times are comparable at 4.9s for the Type-S to the G70's 4.5s. 0-100 times aren't too far off either ... 12.6s vs 11.4s. Things get bad above triple digits though, with the Type-S taking 24.2s to do 0-130 while the G70 takes 19.7s. So, from 100-130MPH, it takes the Type-S an additional 11.6s while it only takes the G70 another 8.3s. That's quite the margin. Perhaps their roll speed was low enough that they didn't reach too far past triple digits? Or maybe the speed they set off was more advantageous for the Honda 10AT compared to the Genesis's 8spd?
On C&D's recent test though, the Type-S does out-brake the G70, which is surprising looking at the difference in weight. Also, roadholding tests were substantially better for the Type-S, which is surprising since I hear a lot of people praising how good the driving dynamics of the G70 are. Of course, that's only one metric of how a car actually handles.
Off topic, C&D got the M3 Competition to 130MPH in 12.8s. That's outrageous.
I really hope someone slaps a bigger turbo on this the Type-S sooner than later ... really see if that head design is going to restrict power up top and if maybe it can draw some decent power from this new engine. Then again, another concern would be how much the drivetrain can handle. If we don't even see a tune for the car by year's end, I think we can assume that the aftermarket support really isn't going to be there for this car.

Smart money is to not anticipate any changes to output on the TLX-S during this generation. We may see some movement on the UI, providing a touchscreen feature in the MMC versions. Maybe optioning Pilot Sports with the upgraded wheel package. Increasing output? Never going to happen.

I'm guessing there's alot more potential in the J30AC motor with just ECU management alone.

What was the ambient temps and da? I haven’t been able to beat the time or 5.4 0-60 and 13.4 @ 103.I’m also in central jersey and I got those times 72 degrees and 1200 da. I’m having trouble thinking your car is .5 quicker. I’m using dragy which is pretty darn acurate and on par with most other results.

His numbers are a close match to some YouTube vid times. IIRC some from Red Line? whatever the up & down the hill thing. My BS meter broke when it hit the far stop to hard. Also he got the answer to roll out or not wrong.

could be or could have been whatever he was using to time it not being accurate or really perfect conditions but considering hasn’t been cooler then 70ish in the past 2 months I’m jersey o doubt that was it. Or maybe it is the at fast (doubt it) but I can’t prove yay or nay. If it’s truely legit and accurate kudos, but the majority or the testing says no.

Not to mention by Acura's own admission, the TLX Type S is a "5 second car." Folks saying 4.76 or 4.8 sec would make it a 4 second car, no?

Always better to claim a conservative number than make big claims that can't be backed up.
So far, the big Type S claims have been coming from presumably non-professional drivers and not the reviewers. To me, that's a red flag!

Could just be Audi underrating speed like when underrating their engines.

Big red flag to me is right on Acura’s website where they put all the competition on their page in a comparison giving Acura the overall edge . I’ve never seen any manufacturers do something so ridiculous. If you know the car is a beast you don’t even bring up the competition. I don’t see anybody but lower tier cars doing that crap.

I still don’t buy it. That’s .6 seconds then anything I’ve been able to get. They don’t actually post any proof so it could be all tak. I ok the other hand have dragy slips as can share but I don’t think anyone is intrested In seeing a slower time lol

Not one professional driving mag has tested the car at 4.7. Not one.

Don't know if anyone remembers but Red Line at Laguna Seca had a big 4.75 or 6 0-60 poster on an open hood Type S. The vids that number was taken from were going down hill. RL said it was down hill & ran some up hill 5+'s & tried to average than out which you can't really do. Even so the poster board had the 4 second number with NO explanation.

This forum is odd. Never have I seen a dedicated enthusiast forum crapping so hard on the brand that it's repping. Surprised the admins haven't come down on the mods more to rein it in cause that's not good for advertising revenue or sponsors when it's like "don't come here cause it's just as toxic as YT comments".
