I picked up my base TLX 4 cylinder this week and it does come with Goodyear LS2's, a poorly rated tire as per Tire Rack and my own experience with that tire on a 2012 Kia Forte Koup SXI owned previously. What is most puzzling is the size...225/55/17. Not exactly the aspect ratio you would expect on a sports sedan.
I must say that in my limited experience with the TLX I wouldn't have noticed that the tire was crap, so maybe it works with this car. Since I live in central Florida I will probably swap them out for a high performance summer tire, but the selection in that exact size is limited. Any suggestions for a good summer tire in that size? What would the proper tire size be if I went with a lower aspect ratio, keeping in mind that I will keep the 17x7.5 wheels?
BTW, the transmission in this car is OUTSTANDING!! Better than the dual clutch (DSG) I had in my 2006 GLI.

Max and Ultra High Perf Summer - 12 TR stock size choices, but only 4 with any or decent ratings http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...m=1&pagemark=1
Only thing close is 235/50-17 with a slightly smaller dia. but could work, will lose 1.5% mpg.

Congrats! What was your last car? Do you find the i4 to be under-powered as many are saying?

I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't had a high powered car since my 2006 Volkswagen GLI that I had chipped. The TLX replaced a 2012 TSX Sportwagon that was definitely slower and less responsive that the TLX. So the TLX is an upgrade. The 4 cyl TLX does not feel underpowered at all, but if I was used to driving a 707 hp Challenger Hellcat, I would probably feel differently.

I super hate this tire size, especially when it comes with 7.5" wide wheel. I had the exact same problem with my G37 sedan. It came with Goodyear Eagle RSA, an okay tire overall, but on a 330HP sport(y) sedan??? Well, ended up getting an OEM set of 18x8" with 245-45/18 Michelin PSS. Was much much happier. I think you should do the same.
Or maybe looking to get a set of 3G TypeS wheels? I've heard they have the same bolt pattern.
Is anyone replacing the tires with something else? My I4/Tech comes in next Monday and I'm looking at replacing the tires. Just not sure what to get. As much as I would like to drop down from 55 I wonder how much of an impact that will have on the car's ride? My test drive was quite nice and soft.
I'm coming from a 2011 TSX Wagon which doesn't have the softest ride so not sure how much I would notice anyway.
Some consumer complains about hydroplaning on either the Goodyear Eagle LS-2 or the Potenza RE97AS. I haven't read a single positive review about these tires anywhere. Makes me wonder if Acura nickle and dime us to death for a 0.00000001% more margin? Thats just ridiculous.
I am lined up financially to pick up a SHAWD tech next spring.
These tires are serious deal breaker for me unless the dealer gets me a set of Michelin A/S3 at no extra cost... (I know I am dreaming lol).
Negotiate hard with the dealer for those tires, or discuss with a local tire store for an exchange at time of delivery. At most this should be a $300-400 cost, a 1% or less on the cost of the car. If that is a deal breaker for you then just move on to your second choice.
I am not happy with the Goodyear Eagle LS2 tires (225/50-18s) that will be coming with my TLX SH-AWD, so I went online to tirerack.com and also spoke to a salesperson on line about a suitable replacement. Both the salesperson and website recommended the Goodyear Assurance ComforTread Touring tire. This tire was ranked as the number 1 grand touring all-season radial tire and scored better than the Eagle LS2s in every one of the 12 categories evaluated. I am an old geezer, so I don't need a pure performance tire, but want tires that are quiet, and handle well in dry and inclement weather, and this tire is superior to the Eagle LS2. This Assurance ComforTread tire cost is only $10 more per tire than the LS2s, but I'm sure that the Acura dealership won't give me much money back on those LS2s when I tell them to keep them, and I have tirerack.com send the Goodyear Assurances directly to the dealership for mounting and balancing before I take delivery of my new TLX. Has anyone else considered these tires? Thanks.
I was surprised but the Goodyears handle better than I expected. They grip the road and are quiet. I will probably go back to Yokohamas next round, but these GYs are good enough for me.
I traded the Goodyear tires that came on my I4 TLX for Dunlop Winter Maxx 225/55R17. I will use that and original rims for winter. For summer I bought 18X8 rims from Tire Rack and 245/45R18 Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3.

Wow you have snow on your license plate this early in the year?

Ya I am sure the snow will come early this year here in the GTA, Ontario. It will be 1C (33F) tonight. Buuurrr!

Please tell me that is a misquote and you are not using the Goodyear as winter tires in TO unless you can leave the car parked whenever there is any precipitation. After 30 years driving here with All Season tires I have become an advocate for winter tires as they make such a difference.
I am currently trying to find some suitable 17" wheels to mount some winter tires. TireRack has not yet verified what will or will not work so am now exploring some local sources.

I am using Dunlop Winter Maxx on the original TLX 17" for winter. What you could try for yourself is go to a Honda dealer and ask them to test fit the 17" steel wheel from 2007-2011 CRV. That's what we use for 13-15 Accords.
Thanks Dutchy. I have already checked multiple online wheel and tire dealers and am now pretty confident with the various options. The only part in doubt is the clearance between the spokes and the brake caliper. I am expecting that the spokes on most or all wheels are in line with the rear contact point of the hub.
When the TLX is not in their database I have been using the Accord Sport and TSX V6 as the vehicle, but they do not produce identical results. Strange.
My alloy wheel preferences have changed quite a bit over the last week. I am now down to finding a suitable style with a winter approved finish. My dealer has been playing it safe by recommending steel wheels, and after market dealers have not even mentioned that winter approved finish should be a consideration.
My ride ;(TLX SH-AWD/Tech), being delivered on Saturday
I've asked the dealer to "swap" the Goodyear's for Michelin Primacy
Rapport with the dealer is excellent; lets see what happens
Fingers XXXXXXXXXX
My new TLX is due to arrive at the dealer within 2 weeks. I am looking to swap out the stock Goodyear tires for some Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires. I know the performance will be improved. But I am concerned about the road noise and ride harshness of the Continentals. Has anyone had any experience with this type of swap and are able to comment on the noise/ride?
I am running the DWS and feel (except when I accelerate, turn, or brake--all for the better) & hear no appreciable difference. I am not running them on the I4's 17" stock wheel, but on 18", where a shorter sidewall could conceivably affect ride quality negatively.
I consider there to be no downside but considerable upside.

Pictures of the 2016 Accord show some models with Continental tires. I hope Honda uses Continental tires instead of the low rated Goodyear tires on the 2016 TLX.
