Winter tires TPMS not working for 2018 TLX SH-AWD A SPEC?

I am wondering if you guys can help me out here. I had a 2015 TLX SH-AWD Elite with a set of winter tires using a separate set of OEM 18" rims. Now that I switched my car to the 2018 TLX SH-AWD A SPEC, I continue to use the older set of winter tires on the OEM 18" rims from the 2015 TLX. However, the TPMS now does not work. The dealership tells me that the sensors are "not compatible" as they had different part numbers than the ones on the 19" wheels of the A SPEC and so I had switch them out to the 2018 TLX's TPMS and they even quoted me way over $100 to switch them out!!!

So the TPMS never worked for me on my 2018 TLX SH-AWD A SPEC since I got the snow tires on from day 1.

What do you think really is wrong with it? Is it truly a compatibility issue? Thanks in advance for your advice.

TPMS sensors must be keyed to the transmitter in your car or else any car that pulls next to you would throw off your TPMS transmitter. Obviously not all TPMS sensors are compatible with the transmitter of each vehicle. I'm a little surprised that a 2015 TLX (which is what I drive) is incompatible with a 2018, but you would need a TPMS sensor tester (about $100) to try and match your sensors with your transmitter. If it was my car, I would purchase this tool and try and match the winter tires and sensors with my new 2018 TLX. If I was not able to; I suppose a return to the dealer to get new 2018 TPMS sensors.

I had the same issue. My older TPMS from my 15 TLX are not compatible with my new 18 TLX. Part numbers are different on the sensors and Im told by my parts dept that the 18 sensors are now similar to the MDX and NSX where they will beep when the tires are being filled.

2018 TLX not compatible with prior year TLX TPMS as noted here: https://acurazine.com/forums/fifth-g...18-tlx-962745/

Dealer found that the TPMS sensor part numbers are different on the 2018 so I had to purchase all 4 wheel sensors and now everything works. I kept the 2018 stock rims for my winter tires so both sets of wheels have 2018 TPMS sensors.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, pretty sure my 15 TLX also beeped when getting near or adding to much air. Curious as to what exactly did they change. One of the reasons why I wanted an Aspec was to keep my Nokian winter tires as is. Would have easily cost me $200+ for little to no change in TPMS behavior.

My 15 TECH did not beep, maybe it was an Elite option.
