Have any V6 owners noticed when car is parked and idling that a raspy sputter comes from the tailpipe - almost sounds like the enginge is misfiring? I just noticed this last night when I got out to get an item from the trunk and I heard the noise. I will have it diagnosed on next service visit.

 

Haven't noticed any weird noises from the exhaust. Moisture in the muffler maybe?

 

If you give it a little gas (at idle in P), say 4k RPM and then lift your foot completely, does it go down to normal idle ~800 RPM smoothly or does it drop to an almost engine stall level? If it does drop down say below 400 RPM, somehow it is running rich. Don't know what kind of conditions you drive in, but I would start by looking at the air filter and the MAF sensor on it for excessive dirt/dust/etc. Other areas to look at is perhaps a hole on the entire exhaust assembly from front to back... but your best bet is to take it to the dealer and ask. There are cases where the computer logs error codes but doesn't trigger the engine light because it has to check twice in two drive-cycles. So, who knows...

 

I did the rev up to 4K and release and idle poped back down to 900. The noise has gone so maybe it was water in the muffler system. Thanks guys for your thoughts.
