My transfer case is about to die, it's doing whining noise and the oil is full of metal chips. 2015 SH-AWD with only 56000 km / 35000 miles. Anyone experienced this problem?

 

2018 with 55,000 km here, no such issues. I just replaced the transfer case fluid for the first time, no issues noticed.

I suggest you try contacting the dealer to see if they are willing to work with you to replace the unit (sometimes they have undocumented warranties to address known issues)
