Tinted windows and blind spot information system (BSI)

Hi there,

I recently bought my car to an auto tint shop for window tinting (side and rear windshield only).
The next day i start my car, the BSI light shows up and it's not working.
i have friends that have the same tint on their cars with no issues.

Have anyone experience a similar problem?? and where exactly is the blind spot sensor??

Any input would be appreciated.
Thank you!

It doesn't seem possible that the tint could cause the problem as the manual says the blind spot sensors are located underneath the rear bumper corners.

The manual suggests checking for mud, snow, etc covering the sensors.

Can you be more specific about your problem as you imply that the light comes on but it is not working? Incidentally, the BSI light only comes on if the car is traveling between 20-100 mph (I would prefer it to be less) and some other conditions, see p389 of the Handbook.

It's definitely a coincidence, about the tinted windows, however, I have tinted windows also, it's the salt mud or dirt that is causing the BSI to go on. Clean the sensors and the issue should be fixed. Thank you

I previously assumed that the sensors on the rear bumper were used for BSI but subsequent posts and the vague writeup in the Handbook suggest that they are underneath the rear bumper. The ones on the bumper are for parking.

Can the radar sensors actually be seen under the bumper and would the spray from a hose be enough to clean them or does it need a car wash with underbody spray?

Thank you so much guys!
I took my car to the car wash and the amber BSI malfunction indicators was gone.
