remote issue
remote issue
My wife has the Driver #1 fob remote for the TLX. For some reason the car wil not recognize the settings for her remote but does unlock the car. When she gets in it is set for Driver #2. Any thoughts or suggestions how to pair the fob with the car?
First thing I'd check is that the Driving Position Setup is On, so it is responding to the Driver 1 or 2 fob. If it's not, I expect you'll just be getting the "last driver" settings, so if Driver 1 drove the last time after moving the seat, etc., it will stay on those settings (IDS, shortcuts, etc.)--possibly the 20% of the time. If that's not it, I'd re-seat the fob battery, next stop the dealer.
Today I took car and both remotes to the dealer to investigate. When I got in car this morning I had Fob 1 in my pocket and Fob 2 in my brief in the trunk. As I started the car all settings went to Driver 2. I hope they can get htis sorted out. The wife is not happy, and we all know when the wife is not happy....
Just FYI, my wife will have hers (#1) in her purse by the passenger door or in the car--still recognizes my (#2) unlocking of the car, and recognizes mine even if she unlocked the car first from the passenger side and I simply open the door on the driver side. If the dealer says the problem is having both fobs there, I'd disagree. In fact, I'm amazed how well it does recognize these situations. We have taken to locking it in the garage, just so it will recognize who unlocked the driver's door so it will adjust the seat, etc.

A bit of humor arises around our household when my wife puts her purse in the trunk before we go to the gym. From the driver's seat I'll hear Wham...Wham...WHAM, followed by an angry tap on the driver's window. The trunk will not shut with the key in there. Very smart.
A small annoyance is when we lock the car from the door switch but one or both of us linger too long by the car - the car unlocks, so when we come back, there sits the car unlocked.
I notice everyone has their wife's fob as #1. When we bought our RX350 way back when (long gone) the salesman said Mrs. CanTex, you're Number 1. Very smooth on his part.

The dealer could not duplicate the issue - and they had both fobs. I drove the car yesterday and left on setting 2 (I have Fob #2). Wife gets in car this morning with Fob #1, car starts and all settings go to Driver 2 (even the Nav screen said welcome Driver 2). WTF!!! Since car started it did recognize she had a Fob, but not Fob 2.
Last night I did her typical get-in-car routine. With car set to Fob 2 (my fob), and locked, I carried her purse (fob in purse) to the passenger door and touched handle to unlock the car, opened door and set purse on passenger seat. I walked around to driver side, got in, started car and settings were still on Driver 2.
So, from what I am understanding, no matter what Fob you have, if car was not locked the previous settings will be used even though the car recognizes a different Fob (since the car started, a fob was nearby).
Yes, the new software is currently downloading, at 55% now.
In fact, yesterday my wife unlocked the car from the passenger side, placed her purse on the seat, then went to the driver's door, opened, and got in. Car was still on my last (Driver 2) setting. It's the unlock of the driver's door that controls. As such, we now lock it even in the garage.
page 126 (revised version):
Customization is possible when you see the driver’s
ID (Driver 1 or Driver 2) on the screen.
The driver’s ID indicates which remote transmitter
you have used to unlock the driver’s door. The
customized settings are recalled every time you
unlock the driver’s door with that remote.

OK. If doors are set up to unlock all at once, then if I open my wife's door (passenger), being the gentleman I am, then the settings will be whatever the last user who unlock the drivers door has an their settings. Hmmm....kind of takes chivalry out of the equation then. Meaning, even though all doors unlock at same time, since passenger door was the initiation point then drivers door would still not recognize that fob. That does not see logical to me.
The fobs are unisex--Driver 1, 2, not M, F.....
Unlocking is probably the only trigger for the electronics. Opening the unlocked door is probably not even recognized. As such, it really needs to be the unlock that sets things in motion. Once you are in and press start, it would help if that triggered your settings--and I don't see a reason it could not have done that, but it doesn't. It's as if only unlock, not start, gets into that area of the software.

Regardless of what setting is chosen by the car or where the seat, mirrors, etc. are located, can't the driver hit the memory button of his or her choice on the driver's door to choose the correct settings? That's what I have been doing after a carwash when the seat has been pushed backwards or forwards so the interior can be vacuumed.

I'm having a similar issue with the car not automatically unlocking when I attempt to open the door. Seems to occur more often when it's really cold. I removed my phone from the equation thinking it might be interfering, but phone proximity seems to have no effect. My next guess is try a new battery in the remote...but the remote has enough juice to trigger the courtesy lights so that shouldn't be the problem, who knows? Certainly Acura doesn't appear to know so what's an owner supposed to do? All I want is a car that's features work the same way and reliably every time. I've resorted to pressing the unlock button on the fob so I know I can get in my car without having to fumble with it and then have to resort to getting the fob out to unlock it anyways.
