Anyone getting musty smell from vents when you first put on the air-conditioning, goes away after a few minutes.

Now that you mention it. I have noticed a musty smell ('18 brand new) once or twice. I thought it was perhaps a lingering smell from the kids or the rain and being baked in the heat. But it immediately went away.

No this is definitely musty moldy smell. My wife has been complaining of this for awhile so I changed the the filter behind the glovebox. Not working. Every time you put the air in it smells. I have to open the windows and let it out and when you put the A/C on it will go away after awhile.

May be mold, try some Lysol or similar sprayed into the intake vets to see if it kills it.

I had the same problem. They replaced the evaporator, and it went away.

If they don't replace the evaporator, try getting a foam cleaning spray that cleans the evaporator. You have to spray it into the ac drain hose.

To help keep mold from forming, don't use recirculating air, open the "fresh" air vent.

I was told years back that its a good practice to shut off the A/C when you're about 5 mins from your destination, supposedly this allows most of the water to drain and helps to prevent mold and the musty smell.. It gets a little uncomfortable on very hots days, and pisses off the wife but been doing this for 4 years and haven't had an issue with the musty smell..

Musty Smell

My brother in-law had a 2016 Jeep that smelled like dead animals, as soon as the windows were closed
After 3 dealer details, they gave up, & gave him his money back, in FULL!
Smell was so putrid, it was making his whole family sick
Chrysler had zero clue what it was
