Body Panel Fit / Alignment

Hi All.

My TLX hood appears to be slightly off in terms of it's alignment between the top surfaces of the front left & right fenders.

The driver side fender aligns well with the top of the hood -- not a huge gap at all and looks as I would expect.

However, the passenger side fender and hood do not seem to come together as well as I'd expect. There's a pretty significant gap, at least as compared to the driver side.

Any thoughts? I do have an appointment at the dealer to have my remote start installed on Saturday and was going to mention the hood then. I'd like to get some opinions before then. I can provide pictures if anyone is interested as well (will need to take them first, tho).

Thanks much in advance.

Point all that out to your service manager. Be firm about them re-aligning the parts.

That can be fixed by the dealer. We had a car (an Acura Integra) that needed some body work after an accident. When we picked it up, it just didn't have that "Acura fit." The body shop was great-they realigned the hood and it looked perfect.

Just wanted to follow up. The dealership acknowledged the hood was out of alignment, and that they would rather it be taken to their body shop for adjustment. Will have to schedule it on another day....

How does the car look after going to the body shop? Did you have any issues with inconsistent gaps between the hood & fenders, and the hood overhang at the area between the grill @ headlights?

I haven't yet taken it to be re-aligned. Denver had a hail storm in early September and my TLX was a victim. I've been focusing on having that damage repaired first. The mis-aligned hood became not so important. It's very much still on the radar to have it addressed.
