8 speed getting clunky and takes forever to downshift......

My car has about 5000 miles on it as of now and the transmission is getting to be clunky when downshifting and when not coming to a complete stop then accelerating. I also am noticing that when I step on the gas to accelerate while driving, that the car takes an inordinate amount time to downshift. I was on the freeway tonight and floored it to accelerate quickly, the car damn near killed me as it took several seconds to downshift the three gears that it needed to. I am beginning to hate this transmission. It was a lot better when it was new.

Mine was done about that time, but you probably need to check with the dealer regarding if you had the latest one. Mine shows 15-024 done as part of the free first oil service

No. very crisp shifts. In Sport all the time. The more aggressive, the smoother.

I have the exact problem in my car too. 15-024 was done before I purchased the car. The car is very slow at down shifting I have to use the paddles to down shift all the time in order to pass people, if i don't it takes a good 3 to 4 seconds to find the lower gears. My 1987 Toyota Tercel Down Shifted Faster. One thing I can say the up shifts are very fast.

This is true, it does upshift beautifully. Its is the downshifting that sucks, its either clunky or sloooooowwwwww.

We all have the lethargic downshifts, and it seems to be an issue with the 9 speeds as well.
