2018 TLX jewel eye LED headlight distortion

Hello! Going into dealer this week to get this resolved but thought I'd share in case anyone has experienced it. The passenger-side LED headlamp light seems distorted or dispersed at the edge. Not even sure how to describe it, so have a look at the attached pics. Always there, warm or cold weather. At first thought it might be new-car wax interfering with the beam, but the headlights seem pretty clean, and up here in Montreal we've gone from -20 to +10 degrees celcius (-4 F to +50 F).

Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas?

seems like an inherit design "feature" of the jewel eye LED's.
instead of a projector beam of light, like in the past use of projector HID's, light beam is controlled by each individual "jewel eye" which i'm assuming is no longer a "beam" and instead reflected through the jewel eye, almost like a chandelier

Sorry for my sloppy use of terms Agreed. Each individual jewel eye works with the others to illuminate what's ahead. I like the analogy!

I would tend to disagree it is an inherent design feature as if that was the case, I'd see it on the driver's side too. When the high beams go on, the effect is amplified on that side only.

maybe there's a defect in that one particular "eye" like a pinhole letting out light?

Assuming you'll see it on the Driver's side as well is a bad assumption; the reflectors and lenses on cars world wide virtually always have a slightly different light dispersion pattern when comparing Driver's side versus Passenger's side. Why? Safety. Passenger side lights typically allow the beam to float up higher so it is easier to see pedestrians along the side of the road, however, that same float isn't legal on the Driver's side where it could blind oncoming traffic.

Dealer said it was the design of the jewel eye. Looks like it’s the reflection off the individual jewel eye contour. Was able to see the exact same effect on a demo TLX. They submitted it to Acura’s engineering dept. Acura CS themselves indicated in a separate email that they sent it to the product planning dept.
