2018 TLX - Any Problems yet?

I recently went to the 2015+ problem boards and see a lot of people complaining about the vibrating issue etc, before I pull my trigger, I want to know if some of the issues been fixed ? If they are still here ?
Please let me know, I want to make sure I know all the issue before going in

None really. Well I do have the occasional front proximity sensor that goes off when I'm at a stop light. Probably happened 10 times now, but still is rare. Going to have that checked out is going to be a bit of a pain due to inability to reproduce.

I'm in the same boat. I've had a couple of false activations all from the front driver proximity sensor while I'm at the stop light. Several occasions it happened while I'm stopped at a light in the right lane with a vehicle on the left pulling up. It hasn't become a major nuisance yet but I'm interested to see how many others have the same issue.

Are you behind a BMW SUV (X3, X5) with rear proximity sensors when it happens?

Most times there is nothing (car or otherwise) anywhere near in front or to the side of me.

This is disturbing. Three people with the same problem?!? Sounds like a real issue.

No issues in nearly six weeks/around 1100 miles with the A-Spec SH-AWD other that that if I hold the steering wheel too lightly, I get a "steering required" message. The car drives fantastic!

Yeah no one should be scared off. The proximity thing is rare and overall minor. I do think Acura has an issue (design and/or quality) that will need to be addressed but the car runs smooth and is every bit of awesome I was expecting!

Green grass is brown in back up camera and yeah I get that proximity warning at stop lights as well. Happened 2-3 times yesterday and maybe once before that in my 1st 3 weeks.

Neither of these things bother me enough to visit the dealer and I'm still very happy with this car.

Yup I also have the same issue with the back up camera. Is this something everything has an issue with? Or do certain cameras see green?

I wouldn't worry about the proximity sensor issue. Every vehicle I have owned/own with these does it sometimes at stoplights. They are probably lights that have sensors to adjust the timing of signals based on traffic and it may trigger a false signal in the car. I've just learned to ignore it, but I'm pretty confident here it is not an Acura issue. My 2017 Cadillac CTS does it, as does my 2016 BMW X5 (although less frequently).

Hmmm - In the middle of a neighborhood, at a stop sign, with nothing around me?

I dunno - going to have it checked out, but it isn't really a problem.

That may be the culprit. I have seen the same sensor falsely activate at a particular intersection a few times now. It is definitely not a deal breaker and I still enjoy the vehicle a lot, but I do plan on brining the issue up to the dealer soon to see if there is anything that can be done now that it can be replicated.

Normal for TLX, even the 2018. 2013-2015 Accords had the same issue and that's just how they were. Honda quietly fixed that issue with the 2016 Accord refresh which displays grass as green. Puzzling why they haven't fixed it on TLX.

I turned that proximity warning thing off a couple weeks ago. It was too much of a racket every day entering and exiting my home garage. This also eliminates that pesky false warning at stop lights.

Canadian version as well, about 3 weeks and 1200km so far, way better than my 2015...

I get the phantom front sensor warnings with nothing even remotely nearby, and some vibration at 110kmh, and once or twice it felt like it was out of gear after deceleration to almost zero and very very slow acceleration back up again, and the auto front/birdseye camera stops activating on slowing to a stop sometimes but starts up again later

My backup camera grass is green.

for those of you that owned previous years TLX before jumping to the 2018, do you not feel the well known vibration at high speeds issue on your 2018? I just took a 2018 loaner from the dealer and I still notice this issue, although it's not nearly as bad but it's still noticeable.

Not sure what to call my issue but after a drive and I get out of the car and go to grab something out of my rear drivers side door I smell this stench that smells like poop or axle grease packing etc. I only have 800 miles on the car and I drive it very spirited but this smell reminds me of mulch/poop in a way and could be wheel bearing grease type smell but I cant find anything.

The Ambient Light switch in the glove box is useless and only turns on/off the 1 strip axcross the dash and none of the others and when you dim the dimmer switch it dims those also when it should be independent control.

Can the remote start have the parking lights come on at least to show its running, its just dark when running?

Only issues I have are the sensors randomly going off and the lower back support makes a noise when you accelerate, almost like it buckles in and then pops back out. Oh and the third brake light was a pain in the a** to remove so the local tint shop would tint behind it. I dont know why they make that piece so difficult to remove.

Car is a HUGE improvement over my previous 2015 and I am loving it!!

Yeah, My ASPEC does the same, The guys in my service bay did some update or diagnostic and it helped a bit.

Still get false warnings - seems to come and go. I've gotten in the habit of only turning on the sensors when I need them for parking.

I did have a strange issue today - my backup camera never turned off! There was no way to get it to turn off - put into park, into reverse, into drive - nothing. I have to turn off and turn back on the car again. :/

No issues so far, but an annoyance with seeing the suspension rusting already after a month. Apparently it's normal, but still looks bad. Other than that, loving it overall. It's a great car and still turns heads because it's not too common out where I live or it might be the blue color.

I had the same issue since I purchased my car and brought it up to the dealer. I was able to recreate the problem during a test drive with them and the dealer replaced the front left sensor under warranty. No problems since. Probably a bad batch of sensors.

Had my '18 Advance since the end of October. With over 6000 miles, I've not had any issues. No squeaks, rattles, odd noises. Transmission shifts as it should. In short, no problems at all. Let's hope it stays that way.

good to hear that the V6 and AWD models are much improved for 2018

the 2.4 is pretty damn great, still.

I think Acura is gonna turn it around from here, the TLX, RLX, and the upcoming RDX all look great, maybe just up the performance a little bit and customers will be happy again

Got 2018 TLX SH-AWD 3 weeks ago, 340 miles, after couple of days a rattling sound, similar to chattering of teeth when shivering coming from middle of steering wheel, it stops by placing a hand on the horn or in the crevice surrounding the horn between it and the rest of the steering wheel, worst when driving at highway speeds or on roads which are not the smoothest, I can feel significant vibrations in the crack surrounding the horn and feels like the horn is loose and banging against the surrounding steering wheel causing the rattling.
2. Also noticed some condensation in the fog lights both sides.
3. The lane departure warning (LDW) system or the road departure mitigation system causes steering wheel to vibrate and pulls car back into the lane as it's supposed to when deviating off the lane BUT no beeping sound to alert driver of drifting off the lane, it just flashes light and vibrates steering wheel and torques the steering wheel to pull car back; the owner's manual and Acura's video on youtube re LDW says it should beep.
Taking it to the dealership this week. Otherwise drives great and everything else seems to be working. Really like the surround camera.

I went for a test drive a TLX V6 FWD A-Spec and noticed the steering wheel shake on freeway driving between 60-70 mph but it’s gone at 80 mph.
bad balancing on the wheels ? Bad tires ? Over inflated tires ?

This is a known problem for shawd models concerning the subframe; had it on my 2015 and hated it. If its a fwd, it could be balancing but i dont think it should go away at higher speeds.

One thing I've noticed on our 18 Aspec 2.4, is that it takes some effort to close the hood.

Have to push fairly hard to get the thing to latch in. I tried adding some grease to it, hope it will be better over time. How about your hoods?

Are you sure it’s not LKAS gently tugging the steering wheel back into the center of your lane?

First problem, and it's a big one

Have owned my 2018 A spec for a few months.

Had car running well on a fun drive. Parked it for a few hours. Got back in and started it.

Every sensor warning started popping up. Mirrors were delayed on moving out. Seat finally moved.
Then I discovered car would not shift into drive, reverse or even neutral. Singing as if door was open.
Almost wouldn't turn off.

Tried resetting all settings.
disconnected battery for 5 Mins.
Started it a few more times.

Nothing helped.

After being towed to local Honda dealer, had them run any tests they could do. Couldn't find anything that was helpful. Sent to Acura dealership on flatbed.

Good thing: continued to do same faults not making me look like an aHole as vehicles can do.

But ive gone back on thread and see wheel speed sensor has been a culprit. Battery shouldn't be an issue with less than 11000kms on it.
Homda said battery checked out (if the actually checked it)

some previous videos of this are exactly what I'm seeing...except being stuck in park

what do you think? I want to guide dealership to cut down wasted time while I'm without car

Have had my A-spec since February. Recently returned from a 6 day trip and the battery was dead. After getting a jump I now had a charging system fail message. The dealer replaced the battery, even though it checked good, and a blown fuse they say was related to the jump start. Talking to the service tech, he says batteries have always been an issue.......but after six days?? This may be a deal breaker due to the many trips I take.
