and I have no idea the back story on it, but since it's his avatar and he's a perv...I can only imagine.
I agree, forged is great but I guess if neither ever hit anything hard enough to hit their "stress point" there's no need to ever really have to bend anything back either. I've always been a huge fan of Vossen with the way they market and their innovative designs...always cutting edge. There's a reason others are now copying their styles.

Maybe in a way in terms of showing potential, but it doesn't help much to an individual customer if he can't actually replicate the exact look he wants because those parts and that color is not available. In another words, this white TL is using aftermarket parts we can all access. All you need is the money and you can actually get the car to look at this in reality. That makes it more interesting to me. Why show me something I can't have?

Vossen just released a teaser video on Instagram yesterday. The official video and pictures has not yet completed at this point. Should be coming out soon. I will try to post the teaser viseo on here soon. Here is a few of the recent photos of our TLX project. Enjoy.

But clearly you are correct, if you never hit that stress point then you've effectively saved yourself a lot of money... given that you wouldn't prefer a top name as I do.
The designs are eh. They would all be a lot better with less concave and more lip. I'm just knit-picking your post though now.
Also, just to add on your end of the conversation, if I know the dealer that has the TLX then they get great prices on Vossens so they probably saved even more than one would expect. Probably near nothing.
Chan_Mike, so is this your car or is this car being put together and sold like that black ILX on Vossens? Dude doesn't even come around these parts anymore.
I ask because Im curious what else is going to happen. Looking so great so far. Really love the white and alloy color combo, clean and simple. Fitment is really nice so far too. In my opinion it is conservative but clearly it has already twisted a few panties so it's perfect! haha
Personally Id love to see the breaks touched up, maybe with some OEM Acura caliper covers or painted gloss black would set the Vossens off more.
Also I think you pretty much talked me out of my want for wood grain vinyl interior. CF looks great even in the luxury car.

Well, I was stating that for arguments' sake, you already know what choice in wheels I make. Now you got me wondering if Advan RS is forged
I guess my point is that there is forged, and there is a long line of other processing for producing a wheel that are not as strong...but it doesn't go from the best to total shiit in quality. Know what I mean? I feel I've heard enough quality issues from friends on XXR to say they suck...but I haven't heard anything other than a cracked vossen story that went viral. I'm a numbers guy so if one or two fail out of the thousands they sell, I won't categorize them as shiit that quickly.
That's all...wasn't disagreeing with you, just asking you to expand your point of view.
Back on topic, I believe Mike had pulled the front knuckle to see about retro'ing some Brembo's up front from 3G or RL...and he may or may not be looking into some visual custom upgrades that'll make a lot of people happy on here.

The car looks great already. Once the aluminum colored plastic radiator blocker is deleted and some exhaust tips are peaking out from under the rear bumper it's going to start blasting off into space.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. To me that argument feels like saying you can use a home made life preserver or knock off because it's half the cost and looks the part. Sure the ship may never sink but if it does you'll wish you paid full price... hahaha Horrible comparison but eh. That's how I feel.

We are building this vehicle for Marketing only, not for sale. I am trying to create something to get people to be excited about. I am a true believer of the Honda/Acura brand, and I believe the TLX should put Acura back on map.

The buzz is there, Mike...seems to be going in that direction. I'd say good work because this is the first TLX I've seen that will show people the potential for this car. I'm sure you've been around long enough to remember that the 3G, getting away from the luxury style of the 2G...was not originally welcomed with open arms.
And now? It's considered the styling benchmark for the perfect blend of sport and luxury. Glad to see people giving the 5G a chance and not just carrying over their 4G hate and overall trash talking the brand.

Many people are carrying over the 4G hate, but they'll claim it's rooted in fact and sales numbers. Oh well.
I for one agree I think this will do a great job at creating buzz for the brand as well your place of business and further Vossen's own rep, even if just in the presence of us forum goers.
Let's see how long it takes for a personal owner to take their TLX to this level.

Any chance you guys could cycle through different sets of vossens?! I wouldn't mind seeing this tlx sitting on a new set of wheels every month.
And thanks again for putting this car together. When I first did some photoshops of the tlx I was surprised with how good it looked and didn't believe it would really look that good in real life but I think it looks even better than I expected.

Pardon the downgraded quality but figured you'd all want to see (and yes, Chan_Mike knows I'm posting this ).
Also, had another fantastic visit to my favorite local dealership and got to see this baby first hand. I'd challenge any true car enthusiast (especially a Honda person) to dislike this car when you see it for yourself. It truly is the natural progression of the 3G TL and the lines on the car just flow so well.
Took a couple of shots myself.

When I first saw the the stock TLX I was really disappointed in the look of the car. I actually have been shopping around for a new car in the 28-32k range. I have looked at many cars and have been like "meh" to all of them. Some are really nice, but don't have all of the features you'd get in a TLX for the price. I was really sad to see the 2014 TSX go. I have an '05 CGP TSX and love it, but I've had it for 10 years and want out.
I was looking at the TLX and Accord ELX sedan, and was feeling kind of down because they weren't really doing it for me. BUT....
HFS!!! OMG!!! Thank Gawd I didn't buy a car yet!! I'm in love with this car, now that I have seen what it looks like slammed properly and on some clean looking wheels. The lip kit is very nice too.
Dealers need to take note.
I will be paying you people a visit soon to not only see the TLX, but to purchase one also. Thank you so much for doing this and sharing it.
A few questions
What kind of suspension did you use and how does it effect the AWS system?
Did you also use a camber kit?
Thanks again!

We are running a prototype RSR coilcover system. So far, I drove this vehicle for about 500 miles. No effect to the P-AWS at all. We did not install camber kit.

Don't hold back, bro...nobody else does, how do you think the car ended up white!?!?
35 Series would have rubbed and not allowed it to sit so perfectly, no fender modifications were made (or needed...rears don't have inner lip and the fronts are already angled up...thanks Acura! ). Also, a 35 on a 20 would make the wheels look kinda bubbly.
It was a special request, Jon...they had to make sure you didn't like SOMETHING about them!
Seriously though...Acura of PP is the ONLY place I trust to balance my wheels...I can't tell you the fkng headache and ordeal I went on with my old wheels and vibrations and thinking they were bent...took them here...and for the same price as what you pay elsewhere for mount/balance...they rode smooth. I honestly don't question them, they calibrate the machine once a week, if not more to ensure it's perfectly smooth so if that state it needed the weight on the outer area, I'm sure that's why they put it there.
Hard to upgrade the exhaust...but I can tell you that a certain vendor has been contacted about getting started on a jig for hfc/jpipe and full exhaust. Biggest challenge is that the finished rear bumper doesn't have a simple opening to accommodate a visible tip. I will tell you that from underneath, and the way they finished the dip with an afterthough welded dump off the muffler and this lines up perfectly with this weird bumper indentation that's only visible from behind it...I suspect they had plans to have a visible exhaust finisher that they opted out of.
See above.
I can tell you that Chan_Mike will THOROUGHLY appreciate this post...he honestly has no stake in the game other than being someone that truly believes in the car's potential to bring the younger crowd back (and obviously being a huge fan of cars, Honda or other). He's going against the grain to do all this to show everyone that Acura is still relevant. In my opinion...he's doing a great job and I'm grateful that he's so passionate about the brand.
