Question DTS Neural changed to CAT Neural?

CAT Neural? What happened to DTS Neural?

What happened? I got in the car today and lunch and decided to turn off DTS Neural to see if I had more bass. It sounded about the same so I turned DTS Neural back on, but this time I was surprised.

Instead of seeing DTS Neural, I saw CAT Neural. How did it change to CAT Neural? It doesn't want to switch back to DTS Neural, but it still sounds good with CAT Neural.

What's going on?

Either the system is telling you that it is now purring like a cat or it is thinking in French "conduite à tenir (CAT)".

I guess I will look forward to a lot of CAT jokes.

Googling for CAT Neural tells me a lot about the Neurology of a domestic cat but nothing really useful.

I sure hope he has an answer. I am not a CAT sort of guy.

I cannot find another instance of this anywhere on the web. I guess I need a better search phrase.

The notification is actually different based on the source. I have seen:
- "CAT Neural" from SiriusXM
- "Neural" from HDD ripped CD
- "IS Neural" from an FM station

Did not try it with an AM station or connected iPod.

The mystery deepens.

When did you start seeing CAT Neural? I just saw the switch yesterday.

Was an update pushed out?

I only checked today and cannot be certain if DTS Neural had been displayed before. It could have been CAT from the start.

We need to hear from others on what is display on their cars.

I have the answer. :)

"CAT Neural"shows when you are listening to XM and your XM Tune Mode is set to CATegory.

It will show "CH Neurall" when listening to XM and the XM Tune Mode is set to CHannel.

Wow! It was that simple?

Do you know if it ever said DTS Neural up on the top display, right corner? If not, I must have imagined it.

Thanks for the answer.

You are welcome. I only figured it out because when I got into my car tonight after work, mine showed "CH Neural". It occurred to me that I keep my XM Radio on the Channel Tune Mode. I switched it to Category and sure enough, it changed to "CAT Neural".

As for mine ever indicating "DTS Neural"? I'm really not certain now. I changed my Source to be my thumb drive, and it simply changed to "Neural". I wonder if it will change to DTS Neural if the head unit is playing something Dolby encoded....

Thanks again for figuring it out and sharing the info with me. I was puzzled.
