Delete speed dial entries

My frustration with the electronics in this car are never ending, particularly the fact that the system refuses to acknowledge anything that I speak to it. I no longer use the voice commands and have resorted to using speed dial to call phone numbers. We recently entered the 20th century at our house and got rid of the landline. Of course, it remains on the speed dial list. Of course, I would like to delete it. And of course, there is no easy or apparent way to delete the number. Could someone please help an old guy to delete this entry?

To delete a speed dial:
1. Select Shortcuts.
2. Select Phone.
3. Select Speed Dial.
4. Select Edit.
5. Select Delete.
6. Select the preset number with the phone number you want to delete.

This from the little used owner's manual
