Anyone using Ok Google hands free w/TLX base model?
Just purchased a TLX base model and have a phone book that is larger than the maximum capacity of the Bluetooth Hands Free Link capability (1000 names / 2mb) I know iPhone 5/6 Siri can be used from steering wheel talk button. Anyone using Android 4.4.2 with "OK Google" hands free to do the same thing? If so how do you bypass the Android lock screen, etc. so you don't have to touch the phone while driving. I currently have a Motorola RAZR HD. The good news is my contract is up next month and would like to stay w Android but if the only work around is iPhone I may have to go that direction. Any insight would be appreciated.

Anyhow, there is a setting in there somewhere where you can allow Bluetooth to work without using the lock screen code. It was introduced in 4.4.2. I never had the issue before. I am now on 4.4.4. I will look and see if I can find the setting.
If this is not what you were referring to, sorry for wasting your reading time.

Be patient and see if there are temporary workarounds for your particular issue and here's why: ANDROID AUTO is coming to Acura. Already been announced for some 2015 Hyundai's. Google the subject and find the OFFICIAL Android website, Acura is already listed. Apologize for not having the link immediately available.
It's a matter of Acura adding it to a software update and dropping us some Android crumbs! No hate here, but not everyone owns or wants Apple products, it's a neck and neck sales world with these two platforms.
Yes that's the issue, or at least the first part of my problem. I also want to use OK Google to search my phonebook (on my phone) because of the 1000 contacts limitation on the HFL software. I have spoken to a few people at Acura HFL 800 #, not sure if these are the same folks you reference as ACR. They have been helpful somewhat but their knowledge of the Bluetooth OS is somewhat limited and when I explain that I have a base model (with no Nav system) they don't seen to understand the differences and have sent me down some "rat holes" chasing things I know don't work and telling me they cannot create my problem. They've made me go to the dealer to try on another base model and then when I did that, of course the issue I was having was the replicated on the dealer's car. It's been frustrating!

Android Auto
I'd urge a healthy dose of caution here. We're far from sure that the existing cars will be retrofitted to work with emerging tech. Considering the gestation period for automobiles, the Android Auto development kit would have had to be available to automakers years ago.
For example, look at the development of the 'simpler' Siri Eyes Free functionality (from wiki)
Siri was first introduced to the world through the automotive industry in April 2010 as a hands free upgrade with Ford and Honda but fell through when stocks dropped 20% due to price inflation. In June 2012, former Apple SVP Scott Forstall announced that Apple had been in discussions with automobile manufacturers and companies to get Siri integration as part of a scheme called "Siri Eyes Free" mode to provide eyes and hands-free operation, stating that Siri could be in vehicles in as soon as 11 months.
