I've been toying with the limitations of my TLX and hoping to add a second USB port of iPod or MP3 listening.

At first I did a search for "Honda usb" and found a bunch of $10 cables that attaches to the back of the Head Unit but I knew from earlier on that my TLX has Model B ports only.

Also I've tried adding a USB Hub to the port under the center console but this Head Unit doesn't seem that smart and can handle only the first connected device be that an iPhone or an USB drive. If this had worked I would have spliced the current USB port to host two... anyways

I'm looking for a way to add a USB port to the Head Unit for MP3 and iPod. Any ideas?

 

very unlikely that you can "Add an USB to the headunit"

as you found out, the head unit takes whatever is plugged in first, as a priority.

it may also be a limitation on the USB itself.

thus why USB-C was born.

 

see if USA Spec, isimple or the like have an option


just stay away from NavTool

 

I forgot to mention that using the hub did allow me to charge two usb devices at once. Perhaps not eureka news for the regular joe but good info for the DIYer.

 

I'm going to visit my brother in Ohio this weekend (niece's birthday) and as I've stated before he works for Honda R&D. I don't know if he'll be able to get any answers, but it doesn't hurt to ask right? I have a few items I'd like him to check into so I'll add this to the list. If I get any information I'll pass it along.
