Aftermarket amp install - where to run power and ground for 15 TLX?
I found two main threads or posts where people talked about how they ran power through the fender or firewall into the cabin. One mentioned going through the hood latch grommet in the driver fender and the other had best buy drill a hole in the firewall. I was unable to do much through the fender even after removing the top 4 bolts as mentioned, nor do I see a good place to drill (without putting it on a lift). Kinda bummed that I might have to pay a pro to do it.
Also, I removed most of the trim and carpet from the trunk and don't really see an obvious place to ground at...most everything is tack welded or something and there's not really any obvious bolts I could sand underneath and try to ground at. I guess I could sand some paint and drill a hole for the ground but I hate to do that in a basically new car, unless there are no other options.
I'm going to use an LC2i to tap into the rear sub for the amp input, but am just stumped with doing the basic power and ground. New cars, don't make em like they used to :P
Just hoping someone who did a DIY install might be able to shed some more light on the topic.
