At the dealer while they service the mdx.. They have a tlx v6 tech in the showroom. Looks like it has the factory aero package. And nicer wheels.. Wow looks sharp. Looks like a dark grey color. **confirmed it's graphite**, Very nice.
I still loathe the push button transmission buttons. I don't think I can ever overlook them.
On a separate note.. Low mileage clean 2012 and u tl sh awds selling quick off the lots. Honed in on a fee they were gone in about a week!

^^ But after focusing on something that is disliked and publicly stating it, it will be very difficult to overcome. Just like how I conceptually dislike a rotary gear selector or column gear selector. Never tried one and plan to stay away from them.

This is true. Also, what we like or dislike is a product of our own tastes and what we see, read, and hear. Much as some foods can be an acquired taste, so can car features and cars themselves. For example, I loathe the look of the Chrysler 30, but if I gained a hundred pounds and added some neck rolls, I might see myself driving one.

the exterior design of a car is completely different than learning how to put the car into drive....
How many of you have smart phones?
what happens when you get a new one or the operating system updates?
learn the software all over again.....
Old dogs can learn new tricks.
something as intuitive as pushing the BIG D BUTTON to put the car into drive, wouldnt be so hard to learn...

I see TLXs on the road from time to time and one of the first thoughts that comes to mind is how nice would that car look if it had a tastefully executed body kit. Then I look at mine and I'm very glad I ticked that option box.

Quandary is correct once again! Agree completely. Fortunately I'm only looking at the 4-cyl (due to sportier handling and better weight bias), so that Mickey Mouse push button setup will not be an issue for me.

Loathe: to dislike greatly and often with disgust or intolerance.
IMO, it's the intolerance definition at play here... change is hard
For, it takes far too much energy for me to loathe anything

Thanks for the compliments, but I have been wrong in the past.
Let's examine this push button vs control lever, the practical differences, and try to remove the emotional biases.
- They both control gear selection which is used after starting and stopping the car, and are virtually never used while in motion (I cannot remember doing this in the past 10 years).
- To select drive or reverse the brake pedal needs to be pressed
Control lever advantages/disadvantages:
+ Somewhere to rest your right hand while not on the steering wheel
+ Macho look just like exhaust tips (not trying to start a war)
+ No learning curve
- Need to press a release button while making a selection change (not a big deal)
- Takes up space
Push button control advantages/disadvantages:
+ Frees up space and does not catch bag handles or block moving things over to the other seat
+ Cool/fresh technology look (some will disagree)
- Minimal learning curve (if pressing a button is a technical challenge)
- Non-intuitive procedure to leave car in neutral
- Can just as easily rest your right hand on your leg rather than the lever (some might get excited by this)
