I suggest you to do back-to-back test drives twice on different days. Here are the elements you should pay special attention.

1) 8-speed DCT transmission on the TLX has shown signs of problems in the low speed range (below 20mpg) in stop/go traffic. You can most likely catch the symptoms from a cold start before transmission and engine reach operating temperature. There are a few threads on this site for the discussion of the tranny problems. Acura so far has not admitted the problems nor come up with a solution yet.

2) I came down to the 4cyl 2.4l TLX from 6cyl 3.5l TL type-s. I have to admit that the 2.4l engine is sufficient in most driving conditions. However, it does lack of power when you need to accelerate hard. The engine needs to rev to a much higher speed compared to the 6cyl and it becomes noticeably noisy (it also makes the car feel cheap). This makes me miss the 6cyl engine torque in the low range.

Again, you know in the end which car is better by test-driving back to back. Do not feel shy of test driving multiple times with the same salesperson. They love you doing that because they want your business!

The bottom line is, do you drive people you care about in the back seat, or is the car mainly just all about you?

If I'm single or newly married, with no kids, I'd choose the Accord (too bad they don't make the Prelude anymore). The TLX 4-cylinder is a more grown-up car that's suitable for new families and people with small kids. If you want a car that's both grown-up and comparably powerful to the Accord, you need to spring for the TLX V6.

Both cars are clearly "sufficient," so this is really all about what you enjoy more.

Maybe it's just me...but the Accord doesn't give up too much in looks vs. the TLX. To my eyes the Accord actually looks more muscular, with its deeper character lines, exhaust tips, and beefier rims. However both have interiors worse than the TSX's IMO so that part is a wash

Agree to disagree, the interior of the TLX is sooooooooo much better then the Accord, no question, no question at all. Exterior wise I guess if you prefer coupe look, but when I walk around as opposed to you choosing a tinted better picture of the Accord Coupe, so when I walk around a parking lot and see an Accord coupe then come upon a TLX, sorry but the overall look of the TLX looks better to me as a complete package. Sure the wheels on the Accord are better, but I am not thrilled with the side profile. Direct front look is also worse.... Regardless, the looks department is not a slam dunk for the Accord coupe if you even prefer the styling. But then again exterior look is personal, and as I see it there is no benefit styling wise, I mean if we were talking a Porsche Cayman vs a TLX sure worth it, but when you take a clearly worse interior in the Accord and an exterior which the TLX does well vs even considering the nature of a likely more sporty coupe proportions... but they really are not that sporty, you are still just taking a sedan and making it a coupe so the design is only so unique and exciting.

I am a fan of the Accord coupe, but it is no TLX my friend. An FRS now that has some styling. Good luck to any car you decide, maybe if I was 20 I would opt for an Accord Coupe, But I say bring back the Integra/RSX, I like sporty hatches, that was my car back then. Geeze just realized 3rd Acura for me.

Bring back the sporty hatch, bring back the sporty hatch. I assume nowadays 20somethings are buying cuvs :-(

I'll admit I was a little biased with the picture selection...below is a better one with tint and beefier rims to even the playing ground. LOL all this back and forth probably isn't helping the OP decide...plus he has already said the TLX 2.4 felt slow, so if he can't swing the V6 that car is likely out of the running altogether.

Given his budget, perhaps the MMC ILX with the same engine but lighter weight would be the better option, as it wouldn't be as much of a downgrade and marginally faster to boot.

I would go for the 2.4 tlx w/ tech if possible. I had this same choice as for whether or not I would go for the v6 accord or 2.4 tlx. If it came down to base model tlx or accord v6 I would still go with base over the accord. Dont get me wrong the accord is a very nice vehicle. I owned a 2011 accrd coupe v6 and it was a great vehicle inside and out. However, since having an 2013 Acura TSX IMHO there is no going back to Honda. Acuras' small touches to details, quiet ride and excellent fuel economy and much more just wraps it up for me.

if you're still single it might be interesting to hear from your gf or female friends on which looks better in their eyes. i got unabashed compliments for my mustang from kids and adults alike but my wife told she always had a thing against it when we were dating. If you're split right in the middle, it doesn't hurt to go for the car that is easier on the female eyes.
