Those who upgraded from a 2nd Gen TSX....
How is the handling compared to the TSX?
Are the seats as deep and supportive as the TSX? I sold my Lexus IS 5 years ago to buy a TSX because the seats in then TSX were superior in comfort. Lexus sets had no thigh support and no side bolster for lateral support.
What do you like more than the TSX?
How is the transmission? The trans in the TSX was boring, shifted slow and was only a 5 speed, but rock solid and reliable and smooth.
I really want to get a new car soon, I sure hope they release the Type S version for 2016, if not I may buy a used low mileage BMW still under warranty.

I liked my TSX. I love this car….it's a big upgrade in terms of power, smoothness, quiet cabin, cabin materials, handling, technology, looks…..pretty much everything. THe TSX was a nice girlfriend with a limited shelf life, the TLX is the supermodel with personality you want to marry.

Looks like you're gonna buy a used BMW. Acura historically, does not release Type-S models in the second year of a model being released.

The handling does not compare to the TSX. The TSX was a bit firmer, and planted. It felt a little heavier around corner. The TLX is definitely lighter on its feet. I have the 4 cyl, so the V6 and the V6 SH-AWD might be meatier and therefore feel more like the TSX.
The seats are not as deep and supportive as my '14 TSX Tech. I also had the seats from an SE installed in mine, and the seats are flatter and while comfortable, don't hold you in.
What do I like more than the TSX? The updated technology. Dassit. Honestly, if my TSX hadn't been a lease and my job responsibilities hadn't changed, I'd still be in it!
Again, go test drive a I4 and a V6.

The tsx was far more stiffly sprung giving the illusion of being more sporty. I haven't yet noticed any actual handling or grip deficiency, in fact it squeals less and is more immune to bump steer. Perhaps PAWS helps. Seats are definitely less bolstered and as my TSX had cloth seats also they were much grippier. Long term comfort - havent been on a long enough journey to tell, but I have no complaints about the TLX seats yet. The TLXs center arm rest is way way more comfy though! Climate control worked way better than the psychotic TLX system. It cannot make up its mind what to do and I have to leave it on a way warmer temp than the TSX.

Coming from 13' tsx the fun factor was better in the TSX vs TLX for me. From the first moment I drove the TSX is was I just have to have it I was in love. The seats felt more sporty/bolstered. However, if I had to choose between both right now I would choose TLX again. I didn't fall in love with TLX at first but I can appreciate what acura provided in the total package. The upgraded technology for me is a big plus (lkas, blind spot, brake hold, etc.) and the quietness along with the increased gas mileage makes for a great deal/value imho.

Also does the TLX have the 18+gallon tank like the TSX did?

The TLX has a 17.2 gallon tank.
Now that I think about it I used to push the hell outta that TSX so that could have affected my mileage just a tad bit :-) TLX I don't push nearly as hard or have the desire to. More of a cruiser car for me.

As I have mentioned elsewhere my TLX is still not matching my TSX MTs mileage, which over 2 1/2 years averaged just over 7 ltrs per 100 kms. I have now beaten 8 on a tank full and I think part of the issue is that it takes a very long time to fully warm up. I think it might beat the TSX on a pure highway run, but won't know till the summer. I got 5.7, or over 40mpg for 100 kms coming back from the mountains Sunday, average speed was 115Kph/72mph, helped by a slight new drop in altitude and a tailwind. I get typically 750kms on a tank, 470 miles.

sincity...Is your TSX a V6 or I4?
I had a 2007 TSX and a 2009 TSX but test drove the TLX this weekend. Are you considering the I4 TLX or the V6? The reason that these details are important is the the TLX's transmission is different based on the numbers of cylinder.
I test drove the TLX on the weekend and the seats are comfortable and although they are not as bolstered as the TSX were, they are still very comfortable. The TLX's handling is not significantly different than the TSX in my opinion, and I think that overall, the TLX will be an improvement when you factor in the latest technology and drivetrain but based on driving dynamics alone, I would argue that it will not be a noticeable difference.
So if you value driving dynamics alone, then yeah, go with a used BMW because the Type-S isn't coming for at least another year or so.

Just this past week on a road trip to Myrtle Beach, SC my hwy mileage reached 39.2 mpg cruising around 60-65 mph. The TSX on that same route if I can remember was around 33-34 mpg. My average on the TLX now is est at 30.3 with 50/50 city/hwy everyday driving where as the TSX was about 27.5-28 average for city/hwy combined.
The TLX has a 17.2 gallon tank.

That is almost as good as my Lexus hybrid!!
I get 27-28MPG in my TSX Wagon. 80-85mph. 95% highway, 5% city.

I had a 2012 4cy TSX for 2 1/2 years, until I traded it in on 4cy TLX. The TSX rode stiffer, and had a bumpier ride. The TLX handles as well if not slightly better IMO, and is quieter. I think the seats on both are great, but the TSX may have had slightly more bolstering. Tech on the TLX is much better, with LED exterior lights, keyless start, etc. Transmission sucks... at least until they can fix the software on it. My MPG on the TSX was around 23/34, TLX has been 22/32. The interior seems much nicer on the TLX, and feels much more modern. My advice is wait until next model year, and see if they have resolved some of the tranny issues.

Is there any indiciation there will be a TLX manual trans? Or the death of hte ILX manual trans, means death of all acura manual trans?

I am coming from a 2012 tsx special edition to a 2.4 base tlx. The tlx is much quieter, also the windows don't rattle when half way down as the tsx used to do
. Seats appear to be have more bolstering on the tlx but the seats on the tsx where more "bucket" style so they held you in place better. I feel less understeer on the tlx and of course, it also feels faster than the 5 speed auto from the tsx. Overall, I am happy with the upgrade.

I plan to get the awd V6. I currently have a 2014 se tsx. I will wait until next year as my lease expires in January of 2016. I sure hope they fix the trans issue and offer the type s without waiting too long. Hell Lexus offers their f sports right out of the gates, kinda of a joke to make people wait, not to mention what seems to be a revenue reducer for not offering.
