Spent the day in a 4G
Haha, we're having a 'brutal' cold spell here.... but skies are blue!

I've been in a TLX on two separate occasions in the dealership showroom. While many have praised the interior quality of the TLX, both times I felt as though my '13 TL SH-AWD Tech felt like it was of a higher grade. The dashboard material /pattern on the TL looked and felt more premium. More notable was the leather in the TLX. The TL feels thicker and smoother than the TLX. I think the AWD or Tech came with different leather than the base (besides the perforated leather) whereas the TLX offers the same leather for the V6 base as it does the AWD Advanced. Also, the raised seating cushions in the TL give it a nice premium look. The TLX had seats that looked pretty plain and boring. Lastly, as mentioned above, while the TL has a plethora of buttons, the dual screens make the center stack look techy. I would rather use buttons than have to navigate through several different pages to change a setting like AC.
I haven't driven one yet and while I think the exterior is an improvement over the TL, I just can't convince myself towards replacing my TL with the TLX when my lease is up next year. I'm considering purchasing my TL instead even though it's a massive gas guzzler and the TLX would probably be a better car to own in the long run.

Haha - well I think the 2013 looks better since it doesn't have such a large beak. I have it in BWP and with this color, I think the car looks pretty nice. My only real complaint is the bumpy ride and terrible gas mileage.
One other thing I didnt mention is that I really wish Acura differentiated the different TLX models more. For instance, on the TL, if you got the FWD, it came with the 17" stock rims. If you got the AWD, it came with the 18" five spoke and if you got the AWD tech, it came with the 19s. With the TLX, you get the same set of rims whether you go for a V6 Base or an AWD advanced (and the rims look quite boring - the Accord Sport rims look way nicer). Even the 19" accessory rims don't look sporty not to mention that it's an expensive option - for that price you might as well get aftermarket rims.
I've been one of those Honda/Acura guys for years and it really bothers me that I am not a fan of anything that is out right now (again the TLX is nice, but not something that excites me as much it does for others). The more I think about it, I might just buy out my TL (or get the 5 series M Sport or an M4 that I've been drooling about, but can't justify spending the extra cash on with how little I drive).

1. The dashboard - the gauges in the TLX actually look more premium. They are simpler and less stylized than the 4G TL's design, but they surely look more premium, and the switches FEEL more premium too, when you drive the vehicle.
2. The leather - actually, many have criticized the leather in the TLX being of a lower grade than the 4G TL, but my own observation is that it is certainly of a higher grade in the TLX, at least in my Elite model. I am so far very happy with the leather.
3. The dual screen - I actually really like the dual screen, as I like to have the audio display in the lower screen, while I see the navigation or trip data in the upper screen. In my opinion, that is very nice and I am surprised that Acura got so much criticism over this. Surely it takes some getting used to, but once you're used to it, it's great.
I do agree with you that Acura should have differentiated much more between the base and the Tech/Elite models by having different design elements for the different models. For instance, give the V6 SH-AWD models the Prototype kind of bumper treatments! Wouldn't that have been so nice!? We can only wish.... perhaps with the TypeS???
Might have seen you on Bow Trail today Ostrich? All of a sudden I am seeing lots of TLXs. None till a week ago, 5 since.
I think the TLX has a higher quality vibe than the TL. The doors also shut with a much more solid thunk than the TSX did. Its ride is in a different league to both.
