A-SPEC/SH/AWD MPG: Not complaining, BUT...........
Just completed my 1st 250 mile hwy., runSome observations: Car handled, flawlessly!
Hit 90MPH, several times, before I realized my speed
Had to use CC, at 75MPH; lol
As a former owner of a 2015 TLX/SH-AWD, the MPG in the A-SPEC, is at least 20% LESS; weird!
It's the same engine, & 9 speed ZF transmission
I used to cruise in the 2015, & pump out 35-37 MPG, consistently
Yesterday, it was more like 28-30 MPG; same roads, & similar speeds; including CC
No A/C; not that it mattered in the 2015
Anyone else feel the same way?
BTW: the CITY MPG is BAD; 15-17MPG; other vehicle was 19-23MPG
Wouldn't trade the A-Spec for anything else, at that price
Maybe the engine has to aspirate, a little
Lets see, after the Spring months; maybe, it's the Mobil 93 octane, I'm using
Anyway; Lovin' my A-SPEC!

Probably also has something to do with the new software on the transmission, I'm sure they had to make a bunch of changes to that to aliviate the issues the 15-17 models were prone to.

I have an '18 SH-AWD with Tech Package and I average like 18-20mpg (with idle stop disabled) with mainly city driving and 28-29mpg with mostly highway driving. I've had the car for about 6 months now but I attribute mpg to leaving the auto climate control function on all the time, my driving habits and leaving it in sport mode full-time. I think it's a combination of that and probably the transmission update since it shifts A LOT better than the '15 model

Really surprised by that. The original TLX is quite a bit better then my car but if the numbers are right both my highway & city mileage are better with 60/70 more horsepower. Not on city mileage its not rush hour & its not NYC so mine is I would expect optimistic. Highway is a consistent 31 32 @ 71/72 average over long distances, 200+ miles, including a lot of steady 90 mph on cruise control in 8th gear.
Could be the engine needs more time to break-in, they always tend to get better with a little aging.

I add my Fuelly to the mix. You can look at every tank I’ve purchased since I obtained the car. I’ve tracked over 9k miles on my A-Spec. I’m averaging 21 mpg. I’m reasonably happy with the fuel economy given wide tires and cold weather.

It’s all relative. My TLX is the most fuel efficient car in my current fleet.

8K miles on my A Spec.....I keep my foot in it, a lot. Always drive in sport, or sport plus. Fuelly says I’m averaging about 22 MPG, 30%-70% highway-city mix.
Best MPG was 29.6 on a nearly all highway run on a couple of tanks full. Worst was 18.1...all city, during a snowy week. Pleased with it.

I was getting 21/22 but have more miles now (>5k) and the weather has warmed up some so its up to 24 with no highway driving but not city. Just secondary roads. The last time I took a trip I think the highway mpg was around 27/28. I drive in sport mode pretty much 95% of the time. My 17 FWD V6 Tlx was doing 28 just driving around and 33/34 highway. Even with pretty hard driving I don't think I have ever dipped below 21. I only reset the trip meter every few tanks or so though. My own observation is that the ASpec AWD mpg is probably best around 50 to 55mph and higher speeds it decreases as you go faster. Guess its the tires/weight. I keep them at 35/36. Lower inflation will have an impact.
