Shifting into neutral

Hey have any of you guys figured out how to shift the car into neutral in case of a loss of power and lets say the car needs to be towed how do you shift it to neutral. I dont see a transmission lock hole anywhere on the AWD TLX

SOL. Just don't have a complete electrical failure. For a completely dead battery a boost should be sufficient.

I have never had a complete failure with over 20 cars and more than double the number of years driving. I guess there could always be a first time, but I am not worried.

The shift lock release is under the sliding drawers in front of the shifter - a little flap to remove. At least that's what the manual says (downloaded to my phone). I will check when I get back to the car.

That seems for the "models with shift lever" according to my manual. There is a flap there on my AWD, though. Did not look into it, though. I suppose you would use the "car wash" mode if you can get some electric power.

Interesting - my manual says nothing about the push button models - the flap there may just be redundant on the V6s. a bit scary (only a bit)...will have to check this out with the Pilot.

p396 of the Handbook "You cannot apply or release the parking brake if the battery goes dead". End of story, no manual override or hidden button.

Well this is scary i guess if your battery ever dies and you have to get towed. We are SOL. I would think they would make some kind of manual overide at least for the AWD. You dont want all wheels locked up. That smells liken trouble

Not more scary than your avatar. Even if you run down a battery to the point where it cannot turn the engine over there is likely still enough juice to release the parking brake. And as I posted before just use a boost to provide some energy.

There is not much different between the AWD and FWD. On the FWD the rear wheels will have the parking brake applied and the transmission will be in park and locked for the front wheels.

Chances are if you need to get towed, the truck coming to tow you will have a jump pack or at least jumper cables.

Once connected to your battery Im sure its not much current draw to disable the parking brake, so even over jumper cables it wouldnt draw down the "host" battery too much
