SHawd Advance on order + Acura Advantage Program

Being as this is the supposed last day to sign up for the Advantage program, I needed to make a decision. Signed up for program at dealer A and then found out they are doing market adjustment well above MSRP, tried to get a commitment on price and trade and they have basically ignored my questions.

Went to dealer B today, test drove a V6 tech and loved it. Got an excellent trade in commitment on my MDX and they do NO market adjustment. Love the handling of SHawd in the MDX and believe it will be just that much better in the TLX! Have been spoiled by the Advance package in the MDX, so we are going for the Advance in the TLX, main reasons: nicer looking wheels and lower profile tires over I4, ventilated seats, CMBS and adaptive cruise control.

Ebony interior is a must, exterior color is between BWP or SSM, possibly GLM, I don't like the extra up keep on darker colored cars, but spouse is liking GLM and it will mainly be her car.

Going out next weekend to show her the car in person and test drive, hopefully they will have an I4 in stock as I really want to drive it for comparison but really want Advance and SHawd, so that is where we are at as of today, on the books for a SHawd Advance!

Can't wait to see Silver Slate Metallic, does anyone know what it will be close to, such as Palladium Metallic?

The white is sure sharp though

Congrats, I'm in the same boat as apparently Acura has not renewed the $500 accessories credit yet (the only one listed as expiring 9/2, I'd say they should keep offering the $1000 to current owners). Kind of makes sense to get early buyers in before the cars were available (except for the SH-AWD).

Checking TrueCar.com shows that at most depending on location, people may get $1200 off list on an SH-AWD Advance, more often usually less up to list. I think you could also just go in and make an offer of the same, maybe save them any fee they might have to pay TrueCar. Of the 6 DC area dealers, only 2 had Advantage info on their sites, and Radley scared me because theirs said expiration Mon.

Hopefully they will extend it another month. I'm sure they would like another good month to get this car off to a good start.

add another

Got an order in on a Black Copper Advance for $44,350. Build is probably 3rd wave shipments in Oct. unless they find a swap. Added F/R splash guards, 2nd remote, bumper and door edge film. Excellent easy transaction at Chevy Chase Acura.

Been a couple weeks since I contacted and heard back from the local dealerships. Decided to give them a call today and found out that the SH-AWD Tech will be arriving end of October or beginning of November. No SH-AWD advanced yet unless pre ordered.
Boooooo! Really getting impatient with Acura's slow releases.

Congrats! After seeing them (and buying one) in person, I'd rank the ones you mentioned from most favorite to least : BWP --> GLM --> SSM. But then I've never been a huge silver fan, and I don't like the bluish/slate tint to it. But that's just me ... you're the one that has to live with your wife.

I, too, gave up on black exterior cars for a while. The upkeep is a pain, and if you keep your car as long as I did mine, you'll be in swirl/webbing/ding/dust/dirt hell. lol.

Thanks all for the replies. Thought I was getting a TLX, but discovered today that the trade in allowance which they agreed to verbally was for a 2012 MDX advance, mine is a 2011 and there is about a 4k difference in book. It was a simple mistake and there is no ill will.

Kind of relieved actually, as my wife was not feeling the sedan after having the MDX, plus she really did not want a car payment as the MDX is paid off. My reservations about the TLX were...1st model year, I never buy a 1st model year car, DI still relatively new in Acura vehicles and no one seems to know what or if Honda is doing anything to address problems which are inherent to most all DI motors, new transmissions, no track record, I really wanted the I4 with Advance package which is n/a, really was kind of skeptical on vcm and the MDX only has 12k miles. Yeah MPG's suck around town and it drives like a tank in town, but a dream on the hwy.

So while slightly disappointed about not getting a TLX, happy to have the low mileage MDX and no car payments for now.

Oh well. You have solid reasons for not getting it and fearing 1st year models. I'm worried about the tech you mentioned, as well, but I didn't have much of a choice in my search, and couldn't wait much longer. Hopefully you'll end up in a turbo TLX one day ...

tsturbo....Things always happen for a reason. At least you are disciplined enough to not take a huge hit and get it after getting your hopes up. I think you are doing the right and the MDX is a nice vehicle, especially your generation.

I have to exercise the same discipline next week when I bring my TL to the dealership and hold off until next spring That is over 5k in my pocket for a car that would be sitting in the garage for at least 5 months....so might as well extend it by a few more months and get more money back in my pocket. Besides, I have the ILX to enjoy till then.

I visited a dealership in Virginia Beach and was told by the manager that he believed the Advantage program would be extended through the end of December due to the delay in the SH-AWD drive version. I assume they will also honor the $500 accessory credit for the same reason. I was going to wait for the V6 SH-AWD but ended up test driving both the V6 and I4 AWS versions and decided that the I4 was so satisfying that I didn't need the V6 or SH-AWD. My new car (GLM color) is expected next week. I can hardly stand the wait!

When are SH-AWD models expected to start arriving? This is from Honda/Acura's monthly sales press release:
"TLX went on-sale mid-August and is driving heavy dealer traffic to dealerships nationwide. The great majority of these early units were 3.5-liter V6 models as the 2.4-liter four cylinder began arriving later in the month and V6 SH-AWD models just starting to ship."

One of the biggest obstacles is getting my wife excited about a sedan, she loves the MDX! As do I at times, but miss the handling of our 2006 TSX, and I would think the TLX is even better
