Replace windshield or not?

Hey folks,

Thanks in advance for the advice. Have a new BCP 4c TLX which I love. When delivered there was a super light scratch on the windshield by the bottom of the left side. It's not visible all the time, but being a new car I was bummed obviously.

Acura has agreed to replace the windshield, but I don't know if I would just rather live with the scratch than risk some other unintentional damage during the replacement process.

Any thoughts are advice are welcome.

Thank you!

if you can live with the scratch; live with it.

a car is a car and it will only get more beat up with time.(sorry, but its the truth)

good luck with your decision

If it is in an accessible location you could also investigate a windshield repair like what is done with a small stone chip. I would stay away from a replacement. Maybe you will be unfortunate to have a major stone hit that cracks the windshield in a couple of years and have to get it replaced.

If it is out if it is out of your field of vision, I would live with it. Sounds cosmetic and you don't want to introduce any incremental problems with getting it replaced or careless techs further damaging your new car.

Thanks everyone. That is the way I was leaning but wanted some feedback. I value the opinion of true car aficionados like yourselves.

I sincerely appreciate it.

If it's as minor as you described, where you can barely see it, and it's not in your line of vision I would leave it rather than having them mess around with it.

Leave it as is and see if you can negotiate a perk or 2 out of it.

Cracks are inevitable here. I would ask for a credit for a new windshield to be installed if/when you really need it. What we do. Then again they are dirt cheap here - $200-$250. After a couple of years it is so nice having a new windshield - even if no cracks, pits build up and hinder night vision. It's like having a new car.
