Real life MPG numbers from I4 vs V6

V6 AWD
Daily commute + general driving: 21-24 mpg (LA traffic is ridiculous sometimes)
Highway only @ 70-75 mph: 33-34 mpg
100% city driving: 12-16 mpg
These are just the numbers I feel are correct. I'll be able to narrow down the daily commute numbers as I just started logging my mileage.

wow those are horrible numbers even for 100% city driving. is your car brand new? because mileage tends to get better when car is broken in.
any I4 numbers?

I think we should list which mode drive in -
My (almost) daily ride is on the highway in Sport mode driving 60 - 70 mph for 75 miles each way. I don't use Cruise Control and get between 38 - 41 mpg.
My local trips are less than 5 miles, so not a good indicator of mpg.

I'm sitting right at 32MPG overall - which will likely improve to 33ish over the warm months now that Winter is over. That's probably 80% highway driving - my avg speed is usually just below 40 MPH. I drive in normal node most of the time - not much use for Sport mode during the daily commute.

SH-AWD here. Usually about 39 MPH average speed. Mostly two lane rural roads with traffic lights. Small stretch of "highway" commute at about 65 MPH. Maybe 20% true city driving. Seems to be trending up due to warm temps now. Mostly drive in "normal" IDS mode.

real life MPG numbers from I4 vs V6
We purchased our TLX V6 SH-AWD Advance one month ago and have driven only 880 miles to date. Our overall mileage (calculated by fully refilling the gas tank twice) is 26.7. Our most recent drive, about 200 miles eighty percent highway-twenty percent city gave us 32.7 MPG. Since I've sat parked with the engine running for well over an hour (aggregating three or four separate occasions) while learning to use some of the audio, navi, and other functions the overall MPG reading may have been slightly affected. On the highway the mileage readout on the Multi-Information Display reached and maintained 35 MPG+.

For real life MPGs, I like to go to Fuel Economy. There is only one posting so far and that is for the 3.5 TLX and it says: 29.8 MPG for 20% city 80% highway commute. For you TLX drivers, I suggest you register at fueleconomy.gov and share your real world data.
The EPA values are a pretty good estimate:
2.4 - 28 MPG (city=24; hwy=35)
3.5/fwd - 25 MPG (city=21; hwy=34)
3.5/awd - 25 MPG (city=21; hwy=31)
I think the EPA split is 50/50 between city and highway for the calculated average. Looks like the city/highway range meshes closely with what others have shared in this thread.

My suburban drive has averaged a steady 32 US mpg the last month or two. This is a 4 cyl tech. At the weekend on a 500 km/300 mike trip to the cabin over the Rockies I got 43.5 US (52 imperial). Ave speed 98 km or 60mph. By the time I got back it had down to 38mpg US. Very bad traffic. Ave speed had dropped to 53mph. I will just hit 1100kms - 625 miles - before refuelling. This is better mileage than the TSX, about 7%, but the TSX had a much bigger tank which was quite easy to brim. So its range potential was further. All in sport or sport plus mode. I find the other modes unbearable. But there are times in sport where it insists on downshifting when going downhill and I don't want it too as I am trying to gain speed for free. So repeated paddle shifting needed. I dont ever glide in neutral but 8th is so high its not much different.

One thing I've noticed is that tire pressure/temperature affects the variance between the MID mpg and my calc'd MPG. I know that when that variance is over 1, there's a good chance my tires are overinflated or run at high psi when hot (like 37-39 psi). Driving in a similar manner in ECON, NORM, and SPORT modes seems to yield to pretty much similar mileage given a similar "mph" from the looks of it. I'm sure if I drove aggressively in SPORT, the mpg would suffer.
My average fill-up is 12.774 gallons @ $3.007, and I'm averaging 28.302 mpg. Not bad for mostly city'ish driving with a bunch of stop lights, I guess. My daily commute to work is about 23-25 miles each way along suburban and city roads with a bunch of stop lights along the way.
Here go my first 40 tanks. I may switch to NORM or SPORT permanently after this. lol. :

Should mention I am still on winter tires - shop to busy to change them last week. Xice are supposed to be pretty good mileage wise but I guess all seasons would have done a bit better. It actually snowed in Calgary last weekend but was as high as 27c driving back. Not good for tire wear! Always tricky to know when best to change over. May often has heavy dumps of snow and we were going over mountain passes. One delay coming back was while a block of ice fell and partially blocked the road.

Dang, I was happy with my mileage so far, but some of you jokers are getting a lot better than I am.
V6 FWD - after about 1300 miles, I'm getting an average of 23.5 mpg. Probably 85% city stop and go and 15% freeway (no true highway cruising miles yet).
The 23.5 is a good 2 mpg improvement over the same kind of driving in my previous 2014 RLX, so I'm satisfied with it. How you gys are getting 5 mpg more in city driving I don't know!

Actually, you're probably driving in true rush-hour traffic, unlike me. Any idea what your average mph on the MID is? I'm willing to bet yours is around 22-24 mph.

It's not 10.5 L/100km about 27-28 MPG ?
Otherwise ,very good numbers.
On my daily commute of 40 km (two ways) I'm averaging about 14l/100km (about 20 mpg) on Sport+ and pretty "spirited" driving style. I must say I'm a little bit disappointed as with my old 2009 TL on same route was giving me about same consumption and it was a 3.7l with no DI.
I have only 1600km on the car. I'll see after first oil change..

I think the difference comes from Imperial vs US gallons.
How's your average speed during those drives? The TLX SH-AWD seems a bit thirsty on cold startup but at highway speeds, I've found it really impressive. I've been monitoring the highway segments of my commute and I'm getting 6L/100 km over 15 km on-ramp to off-ramp with an average speed of 108 km/h.

33 mpg with a mix 65% being highway with light to moderate traffic.
42.5 mpg when cruising at 45 mph on backroads for extended periods (cruising for snakes)
28 mpg when its mostly city.
2.4 tech. Sports Mode 99% of the time, after seeing results.

In my SH-AWD, I have never changed the trip computer (reset) so my trip A s an average of the 2500 miles I have on the car. It's showing 18MPG. I make mostly short trips since I work 8 miles from home leaving only a short stretch of hiway.

Fuelly - Track and Compare your MPG
Thats where I end up looking when researching cars, although there are only 11 TLX of various flavors reporting so far.

My car is not even broken in so it's not enough data but I drive 40 miles one way to work (freeway) and about a mile street driving to the freeway.
2.4L - Sport mode 100% of the time.
Fill ups:
1st - 27 mpg
2nd - 32 mpg
Current - 36 mpg

Here is my 2 cents as someone who owns the I4
I am achieving between 33-36MPG on the highway depending on how I am driving and where I am driving. If I'm going fast or on a freeway that has a lot of incline and decline, my numbers will vary.
Typically I drive in Normal Mode and keep it around 70-78 when I am going to work, and on my way home and after a few hours at the gym, I bring it down to 60-65 as I am in more of a relaxed mood.
In the city, the numbers fall to the mid to high 20's especially for my area where city streets are 40MPH so from a dead stop to 40-50MPH, its a bit taxing on the fuel consumption after a while.....although I'm definitely not "lead-footing" it.
