Can't argue with that. But it really will be confusing to non regulars who don't follow cars much until they start thinking about replacing their six year old TL and start searching forums to do some research. Either way won't hurt my feelings though.

Just like most other public forums on the internet, the participants are the participants or the audiences. They don't run the show, the mods do.

TLX is not always TL. It has lost weight. with premium cars you don't cheapen it. neither you use smaller size tires and cheap rims.
RLX sport hybrid is clearly heavier than RL SH-AWD.
why do you think Lexus IS is so heavy for its size?. it is to give luxury feeling of weight and handling into one package.

quality of rims/tires/paint/bi xenon lights/real type S suspension are all higher grade in previous generation Accord.
such muscular style still gets 26mpg with 5speed auto. This thing is not even upgrade of TSX let alone TL.
This is real quality in fit and finish.

I can see where the Mods line of thinking is. The RLX (even tho it didn't replace 2 different models) is still in the RL drop down. And I think in the beginning the TLX was officially slated to be a continuation of the TL(even tho a lot of folks say its more reminiscent of the TSX). There is really no right answer as to where it should be in the forum, you can make a case either way.

I think the person/persons who took it upon on themselves to place the TLX as 5th generation TL is a bunch of MORONS. Everyone knew from the get go the TLX replaces both the TL & TSX. This car should have it one forum heading tab. It is NOT a 5th generation TL! If that is the case, then there should be a 3rd generation under the TSX forum. The TLX is utilizing the best of the two cars it is replacing. So it is a different car, not a TL & not a TSX.

The RLX did not replace two models. The X was added in the continuation of the RL. So RLX is right fully placed as a 3rd generation.

I like how so many people think their opinion matters more than those that made the car.
And also that anyones opinion here matters more than the mods. This aint no democracy.

That right there is the problem! Vast majority of mods think they are the ever knowing wizards of all things they moderate.

Every news release on the TLX has stated it replaces both the TL & TSX. It does not state anywhere it is a continuation of either the TL or TSX. I guess because it is design in the TL studio it is a 5th gen TL. Less not forget these so call NEW advance features below are coming form the old Euro accord.

Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
Adaptive Cruise Control
Lane Keeping Assist System

Feature that were stripped out of the TSX as it makes its way to North America. But hey, they did put a BS $12,103.91 ELS stereo in place of those safety items that more than likely would have boosted the sales of the TSX.

It cracks me up that a few are SO passionate about moving this and proving the mods wrong.. yet is was ACURA that set the precedent.

Wait, the press release from a Honda official I read stated this vehicle is not a combination of the TL and TSX, it is the evolution of the TL.

Can't you at least add a link under the TSX main menu to this thread? EVERY automotive publication that has talked about the TLX in the past couple of weeks says that the TLX replaces both. Clearly people think it's strange per the poll.

Acura has waffled so many times (say one thing, then do something totally different). I don't think we should categorize the car based on what a company that is only interested in profit says. They have long forgotten about enthusiasts, many of us stick around waiting for the next "Real" TL, Integra, NSX (fingers crossed, that it's a success), but to be honest, Lexus seems to be sportier than Acura, who would've thought that would happen. I'm still a loyal Acura fan, but I'm getting used to being disappointed by them.

I have hand-waved to the admins again on the issue.

My preferred solution is at the top of the screen, "TL/TLX" and "RL/RLX" to minimize confusion. There is enough space for the task up there. It would also be good to have tsx.acurazine.com (i.e. top-level address). However, I am not an admin so I can't physically change these thinks. I have let the admins/other mods know of your concerns.

A little patience is in order.

Thank you!

I believe it is all in the eye of the beholder.
I for one say that HAVE released the next Integra... it's called the ILX.

Now before everyone throws their hands in their air in a fit of rage. Let me explain.
It is no ITR. But the k24 ILX is pretty much the new Integra GSR. Leather interior, around the same engine size and power. Comparable weight ratio. Just as easy to tune as the integra. The ILX is the new Integra. Period.

People didnt love the integra when it first released. Infact the general consensus was that it was an ugly car. (bug eyes)

If you look on instagram the general population really likes the ILX. From non enthusiasts and women loving the stock look to tuners looking at what Aaron or that dude on the east coast on Rennan 3piece wheels and wanting to sell their R32 or E46 for a new sweet looking acura. The amount of people that say Acura is doing big things opposes the number of people here that cant stand what acura is doing.

This site is very bias sometimes.

1g RL --> 2G RL --> 3G RLX

1g TL --> 2G TL --> 3G TL ---> 4G TL --> 5G TLX

Acura already decided what category it should be in. The 2G RL was smaller and lighter than the 1G RL, and that didn't make it a completely different car class. It seems that acura is admitting that made the car classes too close to each other and that cannibalized sales. Now with the 3(Rlx, Tlx, Ilx), their classes are a lot more defined.

Unfortunately two cars(4GTL, 3GTsx) represented the most competitive segment in the industry. The problem was they competed with each other too closely in price and performance. If you ask me the 3G Tsx was more of an evolution of the 3GTL than the 4GTL was. Neither the 4GTL or 3GTsx sold well enough to maintain its current form. Acura decided to go back to the blueprint that was most successful sales wise, and that was the 3GTL. Like most said the 5G should've been the 4G without all those new safety features.

The TL badge is the most recognized and has been the most successful as of late so it was only right to continue with it. The 3G Tsx should've stayed close to the size of the 1G Tsx and they should've never came out with the ILX at all. If Acura wanted it to be the Tsx it would've kept that name plate, as it fit perfectly with the way they are naming their cars. Just because two cars within the class was brought back to one doesn't mean it's both those cars. Tsx was a great car and visually I prefer it over the 4G TL, but this is TL territory. Between a flagship and entry level.

This goes under the TL forum just like the RLX goes under the RL forum. I don't think anyone is confused. They know exactly where to go to look for the new Tlx.

Good suggestion to the "TL/TLX" title, as long as it's not a "TSX/TLX" nor "TSX/TL/TLX".

This would work in my book. TL/TLX says that one way or another they're all together in the topic. It then could be renamed 1st Gen TLX in the menu and it would logically work for everyone (I think).

And you and a hand full are a majority? For now Its where it belongs. And most believe Its an evolution of the TL TLX (i dont see a S in there) They brought the designer of the 3rd gen TL in to design this car, its high end price point is in the TL cost range, Acura calls it a TL replacement. What would be more appropriate is if we were to add TL/TLX RL/RLX to the header above to clear it up for some. It has been talked about and recommended and something the moderating staff cant just go changing.

The media also calls it a replacement for both cars, and logically, it's right down the middle between on a bunch of factors discussed above (price, lettering, etc.). If you read the post above yours, you'd see the discussion that the TL/TLX would be fine with a few folks. Indeed, it's of course the Admin that would make the changes.

I believe that Acurazine is for all of the members, and for visitors. It seems that there are more votes for putting the TLX under its own heading, so what's the harm in doing just that?
