My Girlfriend HATES My Acura TLX
My girlfriend told me she flat out hates my Acura and here is why: She says because I pay more attention to it then to her!
She hates that I will circle a parking lot 3 or 4 times until I find the perfect spot all in the way in the back 50 spots from anyone else so it wont get dinged and we have to walk that much further
She hates that when I bought the car my version of "door sill protection" is I told her not to step on the part that says "Acura" when entering and exiting the vehicle. She tells me she thinks of this EVERY time she gets in/out of the car and is so careful
She hates that if there is a smudge or bird mark ill grab my micro fiber cloth and wipe that off. One time I did that she rolled her eyes at me and I told her I would give her attention to and licked my fingers and wiped an imaginary smudge off her face
She hates that I always talk about the features of the car, I guess as if I am trying to sell it to her. Im always talking about the sh-awd, adaptive cruise control and saying "look its stopping itself", as well as the lane keep assist and telling her to "look at the steering wheel move on its own" HA
She hates that I will not let her eat or drink anything in it. I mean anything. I told her I wish the car didnt even have cup holders Ive allowed water but thats all. Good thing I have a 4Runner as my camping rig to haul things or a dog or whatever and we can dirty that up no problem
She hates that I spend a lot of time looking at Acuras online with the aero kit and fantasizing whether I should get it or not. She told me yes to buy it already, but only so it would shut me up so I wouldnt spend so much time looking at Acuras online and not paying attention to her.
She hates that I spend so much money on it. I told her I just spent $200 for floor mats (I got weathertech and they are awesome!) and that I am about to spend $1,800 on the aero kit (with install and tax AND body side molding. Very happy. No negative comments on this please)
She hates that we are planning on moving in together sometime later this year and the ONLY thing I told her I cared about when choosing the house to rent is that it has a garage for me to park my Acura (if its a 1 car garage her 04 Toyota Matrix is gonna be outside)
Ok, she LOVES my Acura, she just doesnt want to admit it yes I pay attention to her and use it to take her on dates and what not, these are just her things she is JEALOUS about. Hope you enjoyed my thread

Does your girlfriend carry you to work every day and home again at the end of the day when you are tired?
Does she play your favorite music for you?
Does she take hard bumps and potholes and keep you isolated from that discomfort?
Does she keep you warm in the winter and cool you off in the summer?
Does she keep the rain off you and catch bird shit so it does not get in your hair?
Would she sacrifice her body to keep you safe in a car accident?
See... who cares about who???? Remind her of this next time she complains.

Love the post. It's amazing how my wife manages to lightly scratch the sills even though I've trained her to pick up her feet and she seldom wears heels. Otherwise, she is very respectful; of my need for a clean car, and occasionally helps with the cleaning. MInd you I also detail her Altima, so it's only fair.
Assuming you want to keep the girlfriend, I'd humbly suggest you let her drive it occasionally. Just saying…..

few things to keep in mind:
1. Significant Other is telling you her opinion/complaints/opinion, you should listen. That does not mean react crazily!
2. Car is 30K+ liability! You rather spend money on yourself and your SO rather than wasting $500 on insurance deductible or PDR or curb damage repair, etc.
3. Show the SO the same level of care like you show the car and keep your priorities right. Wasting your time thinking about purchasing parts is not good. You are wasting hundreds of minutes that you could have otherwise spent learning, spent with your family or friends or spent with your car! Flip a coin and if it's heads buy it that day, If not wait till tomorrow if you have the money. Also why not do the install yourself and save some time & money and learn to work on your ride! It's not rocket science! Otherwise the kit under $1000 by itself prepainted with all the hardware, BSM is $165 and literally sticks on.
I believe the saying goes, You gotta check yourself before you wreck yourself!

Ha thanks for the responses guys, the post was meant more for a joke and to show how much I care about my car, not so much to bag on my gf. She doesnt really "complain" per say she justs, well, knows how much I love my car and thinks I love it more than her, which is NOT true I love her more and she is my #1 love above my car

^continuing on to show you what I mean...
hate is a strong word!
in the first 3 paragraphs, there's "hate" at least 3 or 4 times.
that conveys that your SO generally has disdain for you and your car!
then goes on and on how she really hates it with accompanying reasons on why.
then as you scan the rest of the post, your eyes spot the words "Hate" over and over again.
so, yes, our first reactions are going to be... DIVORCE HER!!!!!!!!!

Ha lets pretend the words "hates" and "dislikes" are substitutes.
'
She LOVES the heated seats haha, even though thats like a pretty standard thing nowadays and every Acura in the past 15 years "pretty much" base and not has it

I knew this is what happened before clicking on the topic. Video games? jealous, car? new cell phone? dog? jealous. You time is your "girl part" to her, she wants as much of it as possible so anything that takes away from it is a "threat".

I suspect that Spoiler was simply expressing, in a playful manner, his rather substantial affection for his car. The girlfriend made an amusing protagonist in his "confessions of a car lover" tale. Most of us who post here can relate, whether its a TLX, or some other make or model.
I for one appreciate these types of posts as a break from the usual stuff. However, I can't help but muse as to whether some of you only opened the topic because you were expecting another virulent "this car sucks" post…...

I though the post was funny and playful!
I just got my TLX and let my wife drive it to work the other day. She came home smirking and I think we'll be taking it on our next road trip instead of her car, which used to be the more luxurious ride!

Me, I have to fight with my wife not the leave her trash in the door bins and coffee stains around the cup holders, trained her to insert a open tissue as a liner for her cup.. Also she scuffs the door panel with her lil feet on the way out. Besides that, she fairly respects the Acura.
