moon roof not working, extended warranty not helping
moon roof not working, extended warranty not helping
2019 Acura TLX, 4-cylinder, 31K miles.
The car was at the dealer for at least four days to fix an engine oil leak and replace the rear main seal. The Alhambra Acura dealership had to remove the transmission for the repair. Fortunately, it was covered under warranty, and we also have an extended warranty.
Now, the moonroof won’t close. I looked online and tried to fix it myself, but no luck. The dealership is asking $1,250 to repair it, despite the extended warranty. I even called Acura’s extended warranty department at (800) 382-2238, but they confirmed that unless something is broken, it’s not covered. Unbelievable.
It seems like the moonroof is stuck to the cover—otherwise, I probably could have fixed it myself.
Any advice on how to get it working? I tried resetting it and lubricating the rails. It will close up to the last few inches but won’t seal completely. When opening, it only moves until the last few inches.

I have the same issue w/ my TSX and it's the motor and over the years I saw this w/ the TLX too. The old ZDX had the same issue but Acura covered that one, oddly would not cover the TSX's at the time.
I had to drop the headliner to get to the manual close because of course it failed and got stuck open on a summer day when thunderstorms were on the way. It happened to me again last year when I accidentally hit the tilt button when in rush and reaching for the light and I was so annoyed I just cut a small section of the headliner so that I can easily access it in case it happens again. I am not putting the money into it to get it fixed so I just don't use the moon roof. But just know from my experience if it does decide to work it will be to open but not to close so if you have to manually close it avoid opening it again.

This happens on my 15 TLX sometimes. Have you tried resetting it? You can hold the moonroof button in the close orientation for about 15 seconds. Keep holding it and you'll see the moonroof slowly go through a process of slowly itching forward until closed.
