....maybe the DAS on the Q50 is not to be taken seriously but in the case of the TLX the entire car it's a joke....

I wouldn't expect the TLX to make it as a whole car, but I'm a little surprised the 8DCT didn't make it, because the torque converter integration is a meaningful technological advance.

Probably , it would have been coupled with V6 , it would have been on the list ?

Who males the 8 speed for Acura? I know the 9 speed is a Fiat/Chrysler trans. I can't find anything about who makes the 8 speed, the only thing I found was that Honda/Acura sourced out both trans.

Honda made the 8DCT in house.

autoblog is like a slightly more refined version of jalopnik...mainly panders to the german and exotic makes. Not really surprised here. For some reason I read the title as Autowards lol.

I agree! Who takes this seriously? Even if the TLX was amongst the finalists, I wouldn't take it seriously. Remember the Thunderbird won COTY at some point; what difference did it make?

I don't want to point figures anywhere or to anyone, and I am speaking hypothetically, blah blah blah... but it is well known that all these proclaimed "automotive journalists" are making a dollar or two from what is internationally known as "Backsheesh". However, the word doesn't translate to Torrance-anian (California) very well. So don't expect too much love for Acura from bottom feeders.

Consumer Reports review was not so flattering of the Q50. I don't really care too much about their performance evals, but do pay attention to their reliability info.

Infiniti Q50 | Reviews and Ratings from Consumer Reports

"While the Q50 is quick, an underwhelming driving experience limits its sporty credentials. On the luxury front, fit and finish, ride comfort, and noise isolation aren't impressive. Handling is lackluster, mostly due to the dull steering. Ride comfort is unsettled and suffers from the run-flat tires. The punchy powertrain isn't a model of refinement and fuel economy is not impressive. For the class, the cabin is quite roomy and the rear seat is hospitable, but the front seat has a short cushion. Even more frustrating is the agonizingly slow-responding touchscreen interface. First year reliability has been much below average, and a low owner-satisfaction score from our survey is also noteworthy."

As for this article I could care less if the TLX is on it or not. Doesn't make a difference to me about the car. However there are three technolies they could have nominated the TLX for.... The 8DCT w/torque converter; PAWS; and the improve SH-AWD.

Damn... I'm still wearing short sleeve shirts! I guess ya'll up there really do need your SH-AWD and heated steering wheel. Meanwhile I'm lusting after ventilated seats.

PAWS isn't new.... at all. It was new when honda put it on the prelude 25 years ago. The SH-AWD system may be more efficient, but from what we've read so far, it's not improved in terms of driving dynamics... and acura isn't going to get credit for a torque vectoring awd system in 2014. The DCT with a torque converter is a good call though. I could've seen it. I think the knock would be that nobody really asked for it. Infiniti's awful steering system is terrible, but it's something you can bet on becoming more commonplace over time. Consumers craving performance don't want torque converters on their dual clutches and traditional autos and CVTs are sufficient for the everyday/touring crowd.

Honestly, I don't have any idea why a company that's biggest struggle is with non-manual transmissions (I used to have a 2nd gen TL-S...) would try to be cute and put a torque converter on a dual clutch. It's not necessary. Dual clutch trannies don't have to be rough and jerky. Go drive a new passat. It feels perfectly normal.

If I recall correctly the 1978 Mazda RX4 also had all wheel steering (PAWS).
