Manual or motorized license plate
I live in California where were required to have a front license plate.. does anyone here have experience with motorized or preferably manual front license plate? I received my plates this week and I don't want the dealer to drill holes in my bumper

hmm that's cool.. but i was just going to make custom brackets for the license plate just to get the ticket written off. they take it back off hahahah....
My aero kit and trunk lip was free installed. it was a special situation. i guess you can say it came with the car.

The guy next door solved the front plate thing with his BMW: He moved from Texas to a state (forgot which) that doesn't require front plates. That was a bit radical, but he had strong opinions, and several tickets.

Some members here will tell you that a true enthusiast would only choose the manual option
I am not sure if this will work on the Acura as I haven't checked behind the front bumper to see what kind of space there is.
On my Audi I put 6 thin circular neodymium magnets (0.25" x 1") on the back of my License Plate affixed with real Duct tape. I centered the plate on my car's trim piece, and placed 6 more on that back of that trim piece, and affixed those with a hot glue gun (you could use tape again if you want)
Whenever I feel I need the plate, I place it on the car. The magnets hold very well, and driving just pushes the plate on the car harder. Its never fallen off despite some "spirited" driving
Its worked for many people similar vehicles, and has held up, but again I am not sure about the TLX bumper. I just havent had a chance or need to get under the car yet

Wow! What a lot of trouble to go through. I do know it looks sleeker without the front plate. I forgot about the benefit of living in a state that does not mount front license plates. Yippee!

I live in SoCal, too. Drove my 2000 TL for 15 years without a front plate and without ever getting the fixit ticket. But I did keep the plate holder and plate "at the ready" in case of being ticketed.
For the classic TL the plate & holder was an ugly wart. That is why I took it off when I got home from the dealer. The plate went smack over the nose of the bumper. The area where the plate & holder goes on the TLX is much flatter so the plate does not seem such an eye-sore.

^ I have a 2006 TL and did the same thing. I have the license plate holder in the garage- fortunately the 3G has nice license plate screw covers in the bumper so attaching the bracket is no problem. I guess that's another thing missing on the TLX that the 3G had?

I'm in California also, and when I purchased the car they offered...and I declined the front plate. I must have been lucky thus far as I've been in the State for 5 years and never owned a vehicle with a front plate.
I'm considering a "Rho-Plate". It's a license plate holder that's got a tow hook adapter. They've not specifically indicated that it's made for the TLX, just the TL, but I'm wondering about the dimension.
I can't imagine Acura making a lot of different sizes of Tow Hooks, but I'd rather be safe than sorry, I guess. At any rate, it seems like that would be a viable option for California people. If you get a fix it ticket, just pop off the bumper hatch for the tow hook, attach bracket/plate, get it signed off and then remove it when you get home.
Must be a pet peeve for SoCal CHP?
