I am back... Almost, thoughts

Well guys I have been gone for about 5 years after a long string of Acuras. Being enticed back by some really aggressive discounts. I have an offer for a 2015 SH-AWD Advance for $5K off MSRP and then a lease with money factor of 0.000160 which works out to .3% lease rate. That is free money. Still waiting on the residiual number. This is tempting considering there was zero difference between the 15 and 16. Anyone seeing better discounts? Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

With reports of people paying 30k and 30.5K for 2015 TLX recently, 5K off MSRP sounds about right.

My local dealer (WITHOUT NEGOTIATIONS) is offering the following on 2015 TLX (he has 20 left as of this morning). These are all WITH Tech Package, but NOT AWD

289 month/36 months
12k miles a year
$1500 down payment
$20419 residual

Have to take delivery by 11/2/15

Same lease with 0 down they are advertising for $350 a month

I bet with negotiation you can get even better lease deals

They are not budging, but offered trunk tray and splash guards at cost. Should be following this up with the woman trading her 14 RDX for a 16 AWD RDX Advance.

If you are doing 2 deals at once, TLX and RDX, they should hopefully give you sweet deal

Are you getting rid of the A6?

Good luck

I got my sh-awd adv for about 7k off msrp (msrp 45,720 paid 38,900 before ttl) Im in so-cal if that means anything. With the 2016s rolling out they may do even a bit better!

I paid $37410 before ttl for Advanced SHAWD. So yes you can do better. This is without negotiation just an online enquiry.

Isn't the TLX a little smaller than your A6?

In any case, it sounds like a great deal.

Barely, Honda did a good job when they said they kept the 4G inside dimensions. The TLX in a direct measurement comparison is 3 inches shorter in length, 4 inches less length in wheelbase and .8 inches narrower. But if you look at interior measurements the TLX has more front legroom pretty much same remaining front interior dimensions, but you loose a few inches in rear legroom. Since I rarely have anyone in rear seat it does not impact me.

I love my A6, it has been flawless and the drivetrain amazes me on how refined it is every day. The suspension is also very well tuned. The real driver to change is to save over $300 a month in car payment. I bought the A6 when I was driving 13k+ miles a year, right after I got the A6 we started using the gf's RDX on the weekends and the A6 became pretty much a commuter car. So I figured I would put the money in my pocket.

Some things I will miss from the A6;

- all around view cameras, truly a great feature for parking and avoiding wheel rash
- blind spot monitors, Audi’s blind spot is by far the best blind spot monitors I have ever seen. They are integrated into the outside mirror inner shell and vary in intensity based on the cars distance and approach speed, flashing if a collision would be imenent.
- Google online search, it is great to just speak a name or destination and Google returns a list just like if you were at your browser, no worrying about out dated navi DVD

- the biggest miss will be the power train. The 3.0 supercharger and 8speed auto are really great. The low end torque off the line is just awesome and the car pulls effortlessly and smooth as silk. The 8 speed never hunts. Being full time AWD the car just moves, you never feel pulled, pushed or anything else, acceleration is also just an even uniform experience. When I owned my M37 you felt the push of RWD. All my FWD TL's you feel being pulled.

I have to give it to Audi for the engineering is great. Many have said Audi is a logical step for Audi owners and I agree. Probably the most natural move between brands due to similar target design characteristics. Audi folks would kill me, but the A6 is really similar to TLX in that the frame is designed as a FWD platform that also supports AWD.

There are of course things about the TLX that have me a little hesitant. The dual screens are just cumbersome and not always intuitive. I read the complaints on the 9 speed, and I hate the idea of having to disable the auto start/stop every time I start the car. I wish it had Google search, but I need to see what all the Acura link services are and as long as there is send to car I think I will be good, as Audi's send to car sucked.

I think before you look at dollar figures (which are very attractive by the way), look at manufacturing date on the car. Lots of issues have been resolved on the assembly line and the software running in TLXs that were built during the summer months. If they are trying to sell you a car assembled way back when they fired up the assembly line, then you are taking your chances with all kinds of issues, such as the ones reported throughout acurazine. At least, ask them to perform all the "recalls" and check all TSBs before delivery. Heck, if you can go read the problems/solutions section, make a list and tell them to go through it and verify. You are paying for delivery anyways.

Just some thoughts...

Can't comment on lease deals, but I purchased my 2015 I4 Tech for $30,500 and a "free" trunk liner. I believe that's something like 6k off. There were absolutely tons of TSXs in the Atlanta metro market when I started shopping, so it didn't even really take a ton of arm twisting to get that deal.

Good luck.

I actually found a Edmund's coupon they forgot to remove form the web site so now the new price on TLX SH-AWD Advance is 38,888 so roughly $6200 off. I am told it is a fresh car, now way to know since they are trucking it in, none within 120 miles. Car arrives tonight I pick it up Monday.

^5 Keith! Welcome back to the fold I hope your TLX is trouble free. I hate to see anyone else go through the crap I did.

Silver/Black, of course they thing that turns me off is it is not a real silver, and has that blueish tint, but I am finger crossed that 2018 is Type-S in the prototype Red and I am all in.

Congrats! I remember reading some of your informative posts when I first joined this forum. I'll actually be in Atlanta tomorrow (I live near Raleigh, NC) to see my girlfriend. If you see a shiny white 2.4 Tech with V6 wheels and OEM foglight, wave, that will be me.

^^ Welcome back into the Acura family KeithL....I am not just ready to take the plunge yet after just getting my IS350 F sport this spring. That being said, if the MMC brings a more aggressive version and a fixed tranny, I'll be back.

Seeing what Stew4HD went through, I am still willing to wait a little. I can see the appeal of an extra 350$ a month in your pocket but for me, driving is a passion and my passion has to be without problems. So while I like my money, I am not willing to compromise money for drive-ability.....I hope yours will be flawless and bring you lots of fun. I'll be reading your posts carefully as I always respect your contribution here.....

Thanks, glad to hear from you. I remember all the threads we participated in. I need to read up on Stew4HD's issues. The IS350 F Sport is a sweet ride, I just can't deal with Lexus' lack of packages and so many individual options making it impossible to find what I want. I love driving as well, just the last two years all the Audi saw was commuting so decided to pocket the cash for now. I actually am waiting for two possible options, first would be a Type-S other would be when the Q70 gets a refresh to include the Q50 tech then I might head back to Infiniti. And yes I know those are very dissimilar cars.

My $38880 included the $920 destination. We also are trading the gf's 14 RDX AWD Tech for a 16 RDX AWD Advance. TLX gets picked up Monday, the RDX Tuesday. RDX lease is actually very attractive as well 2.18% rate on 35 month lease is a bargain, and of course tee 15 TLX is .38% lease rate.

Congrats on the TLX..

And you will probably also save on the insurance. So when all is said and done, you will probably be putting more than $353 in your pocket.

Funny when I went from my M37S to my Audi my insurance went up over $300 a year, the TLX only drops it $100 a year.

Congrats on your new car. I'm just in my 2nd week. I got $3,000 below invoice and mud flaps and the lug nut locks at no charge (they were already on the car). That was about $5,000 below MSRP. So you got a great deal. $350 back in your pocket is significant.

I think the biggest thing for you to adjust to is the 9 speed. It sometimes hesitates if you are slowing to a near-stop, then get back on the gas. Like it takes a second to down shift. But once it down shifts it goes like snot. That is the only thing I don't like about the car.

I just got 3M Crystalline 40 on the car and SunTek CXP 80 on the windshield. Nice and cool inside, but the SunTek is a little too grainy for my likes. I like the heat rejection though.

We bought her 14 RDX there so I did both transactions via email and went in to fill out paperwork yesterday. This dealer has been one of the easiest to deal with and I have dealt with all 4 Acura dealers in Atlanta over the last 11 years since I have bought so many Acuras. And yes he seems super happy as was his sales manager since they put little effort in to move 2 cars.

My Infiniti had a 7 speed that would hunt once in a while, probably not as bad as what I have read on the RLX 9 speed, but I am prepared ;-)

On my Audi I had 3M tint, since both the TLX and RDX will be leases I am not sure I will opt for the 3M Crystalline as it is a bit expensive. I have a guy I use in Alpharetta (Sun Tinting) that does a great job!

I had Huper Optik ceramic on my TSX. It was great. After 9 years looked like new and really saved the interior materiel. The car looked new inside.

The Crystalline is better than the HO IMHO. It actually improves my vision out the side of the car. Hard to explain. Kind of like the car is wearing blue blockers. Not crazy about the SunTek on the windshield as much. My tint place offered to re-do it in Crystalline 70 (they don't make 80) but I want to keep it 80 or lighter. FYI.. the total cost was $700 after taxes. Worth it in this part of Texas.

I forgot to mention that on my first long highway drive (all in the city) I got over 35 mpg. That was better than my 4 cyl TSX and the engine is not broken in yet.

Why get a 3 year lease on a TLX since you move between cars so often? I don't get how that works out financially. Were you leasing or did you purchase the A6? That said, that lease is a hell of a deal.

I purchase the A6, but my Infiniti and my 09 TL were leases. I kept my Infinit for the entire lease because it was too upside down due to their aggressive leases. My 09 TL I traded after 19 months. Leasing gets me a lower payment and if I can trade out in 2 years fine, if not then I know in 3 I am out either way. 3 years gets me well into MMC of TLX and hopefully the next gen Infiniti Q70 as those are 2 that stay on my list. I am hoping the TLX MMC will bring a Type-S. I have no,problem living through the lease if getting out early is not financially good. Even purchasing no getting out in 2 years is rough. I am upside down on the A6, but getting over $6800 off the TLX made it more appealing otherwise I would have kept the A6 another 6-12 months. It was easier to flip cars when I was in 3G TLs because they were so desirable and held value so well I could get out in 18 months without issues.

I spoke to multiple dealers and they all told me the same thing - the smaller dealers can't sell the car for the price a large, volume dealer can. One of the dealers told me Acura is putting $2500 on the hood of the tlx if the dealership can make 110% of plan for the month of October. Pohanka is one of the largest dealerships in the which is why they can offer the deals. If your want someone in the NY/NJ/CT area go to Westchester Acura. Another large dealership in the country. I rec'd a quote from Pohanka for $36,495 for an advance plus $900 destination charge plus $600 dealer fee. A great price. No dealer in my area could touch that price... I did get a AWD Tech for $36,500 in my 1st color choice. Not a bad deal.

I would have thought it would have been more. The reason I say this is because when I replaced my wife's ML with the Lexus (RX F-Sport) last year my insurance dropped $45/month. Was also considering an MDX at the time and the quote I rec'd was also around $45/ month less than the MB.

I questioned the insurance company because I wanted to make sure that all the coverages were the same. They told me that that although the MSRP's on the MB and Lexus were within $2,500 of each other, it is much less expensive to repair a Lexus or Acura than it is to repair any of the German makes from MB, BMW or Audi, which makes sense.

So today's the big day, enjoy!!
