Now having said that dont you think you should aim higher than to be comparing it to a car that wasnt a huge success? Even with the thought and excuses that the market is different? Why not try to make it something that the current market wants, wants more so than some of its competitors to make it more of a success?
The TLX occupies the same rung as the 3G did, but that rung is also now flooded with cars from the level of the ILX/A3/CLA/1/2, etc through the level of the TLX/3/A4/C/Q, etc. For those that don't care about names, even Accords, Camry's and fusions are now offering levels of features, and refinement that surpass lux cars from a few years ago.
I was almost one of the poeple lost to other makes for a sedan. I was very close to another BMW or Audi, but the timing just worked out, and I saw the TLX as having everything I wanted at a much better value. Could it have been more sporty, powerful, or had more aggressive styling? Sure, but I have yet to have owned the perfect car that I didn't want to enhance in some way.

Or since the dropped the fugly 4G that was very hard for them to sell & dropped the opening TLX price back to 3G numbers.

Looking at a Bellanova White Pearl V6 sh-awd advance, though i was liking the Slate Silver Metallic they had with the oem kit (which i would have to plastic weld and smooth the transitions to the bumper sometime that evening the car came home if i were to get it) I really wish though that it came with a more powerful engine though. It just lacked so much low end torque and high end power that im used to with my 3.7 that i built for my 2nd gen TL, that and i really wish the DCT came with the V6 after having driven both v6 and 4cyl models.

Initial upswing then...
Hey I'm currently still driving a 2013 4G SH-AWD TL. I stopped by my dealership in Dallas for an oil change. I did my usual show-room stroll while seeking familiar salesmen. I asked one them how the TLX sales were going. They said "It has cooled down quite a bit" It was really hot going into the end of 2014 and then the sales have gone kinda flat. The current sales are mostly coming from those owners that are at least 2 years into their current lease with Honda finance. I know this is only one dealership, but I wonder if this reflects the true trend? I know the TLX has won value awards and such but has sales reflected the value the TLX?

IMHO sales will pick up as they get past roll out issues.

Well there certainly are enough TLX out there - cars.com has over 11,000 TLX listed...which is the most of any single Acura vehicle by far.
It's basically right at 90 days though if you look at the running average - which isn't terrible.
There have been any number of factors: weather has been shitty, the 9AT got recalled for ZF's issue (I'm sure Acura is REALLY pissed at ZF for that one), the ILX is just now hitting sales floors which may have been holding people up who were looking at the I4 TLX.
And prices, according to truecar, are still running close to MSRP (at least in my area). March was a big month for Acura last year because of the weather the first two months of the year - March was necessary to get them going. I'm betting in March you will start to see deals flow and Acura will be pushing hard for big numbers - they need 3500-4000 TLX sales in March...

I would also add that local reviews of the TLX have all been solid from what I've seen - the US News awards should help as well - so I think the car has positive momentum still...it would seem that the brand as a whole has momentum as well.

As threads get repetitive, although lots of interesting and factually based opinions have been exchanged, I like to shift the debate, as I did in the Accord vs TLX marathon thread. If Ginger is the TL, Maryanne is the TSX, what sitcom actress would you use to represent the TLX?

Haha...I don't think Tina Louise will enjoy being referred to as the Hollywood equivalent of a 4G Acura TL.
If Tina Louise were a car, she'd be a Ferrari 355 Spider: all voluptuous curves and looks best when topless.

look, the 3g is decent car for what it is. its nothing special. highly overrated by its owners imho. not saying its a bad car but i was just disappointed after all the hype i keep reading about it. i just dont see whats special about it. especially how 3g owners will typically talk down about the 4g. imho the
4g is the better car. but you wouldnt know that from what i read here.

Same thing happened with the 03 accord, a serious departure and it's sales suffered..

Not that I watched much TV as a kid... Lassie, Gentle Ben, Flipper, Lost In Space, The Outer Limits, The Flying Nun.. Maybe a young Sally Field fits the bill?

Not to re-direct the thread back to the original topic or anything but the TLX outsold the IS in February (3418 v 3383). That's a good sign no matter how small the victory given the IS sales pattern from last year and, I think, the likelihood that the TLX will follow that pattern. Also Acura has had 6 straight months of growth now - every full month the TLX has been on sale has seen Acura grow over last year. And four of those six months saw growth of over 10% YoY.
