Wink Driving music?

This may have been discussed previously, sorry if it has, but what music do you like to listen to in your car?

For me its a mix, I used to to do a bit of audio production with mostly trance, electronic music. So I listen to a lot of EDM, i find it really shows off the ELS sound system But when i'm feeling fun I put on some old school Bon Jovi, Journey, and things like that! Aside from that I listen to some Maroon 5, and some symphonic metal like Kamelot. So what do you like to listen to when you hop behind the wheel of your TLX?

Riverside, Porcupine Tree, Entheogenic, Sphongle, Katatonia, classic rock, Maroon 5, Fourplay, Herbie Hancock, Widespread Panic, Alice Cooper... I could go on and on.

I find that I do enjoy what they call trance/electronic having grown up with Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, ELP, etc.

I had some Big Audio Dynamite going this morning.

My tastes range from classic rock to jazz to smooth jazz to 80's pop to 90's alternative.

No Buck Owens and his Buckaroos? Roy Clack? Bobby Bare, Hank, George Strait (Not old but fairly traditional)? I don't listen to much of it because my parents were always playing it when I was growing up.

Jazz does lend itself to great driving/mind drifting music.. that part when the subconscious autopilot takes over....

Of course this begs the question (which has been asked in the Audio section) of the format and source of the music? I already know the answer from some of the posters, but maybe it would be best to respond in that other thread if you have not already expressed your opinion.

Are you saying to respond in that other thread with the answers to this thread? Or just about the source in general?

I've got a 160 gig iPod that I leave in the car 24/7 - I use this 90% of the time and the sound quality is very good.

Otherwise I use HD radio - not much use for Satellite.

I was suggesting the other thread, but I don't really care. It is the old arguments of which in reality sounds best/acceptable (DTS, lossless CD, FLAC, mp3, etc). I suspect it makes a difference for a very small majority or people, typically those with extensive music training but not so much for the rest of us.

Perceptions on hearing are so subjective. Just look at the opinions whether ANC remains off after the engine was restarted based on listening preferences. Some think it is still off and others think it has been turned back on. I have no idea who is right and have not tried to test it yet.

Of course I listen to all of those, including Tom T Hall, Porter and Dolly and the list would go on and on!! I have too many to list. To me, that is why I like country and western so much, that is what I grew up on, reminds me of my childhood days, driving with dad and singing along even though I had no idea what they meant (was French and didn't learn English until later on in life) and NOTHING tells a story like country music does

I tend to gravitate toward instrumental styles ranging from electronica/trance to house/lounge to jazz and sometimes classic rock. My latest discovery is Mike Luck's mixes, and songs recorded at Daryl Hall's house. But it just depends on my mood and time of day, and whether I'm just cruising or driving more spirtedly.

I'm not as into the "traditional driving songs" like Born To Be Wild, Radar Love, Lowrider, etc. Of course that is great music though.

For me, depends on my mood but usually upbeat in morning and mellow in the evening.

Mostly smooth jazz (Watercolors), Maroon 5 and contemporary to alternative.

I usually alternate between Smooth Jazz (XM 66) and Chill Music (XM 53).

I also have some music on USB and HDD, but it is usually of the same genre.

Music does make for a smooth drive.

I listen to dang near everything, but I'm no audiophile.... I have favorites in every genre, so I'll listen to everything from hiphop to jazz to country to dance to a bunch of 80's music. I pretty much exclusively use SiriusXM and USB right now. To me, SiriusXM's Watercolors jazz station (66) sounds awesome with this system. A lot of other stuff doesn't sound as good as it could, IMO. Among these are some bass-heavy stuff that instead of hitting, sounds muddy. But then I play some Richard Elliot or the Watercolors channel, and I feel like pulling over and just daydreaming to it.

For those of you talking about Fourplay, I have some of their stuff, but haven't listened to it yet on the TLX's system. I've always loved their music. I'm sure with DTS Neural turned on on the ELS system, they'd sound fantastic. I've got to remember to try it out.

Smooth Jazz, Classic Rock (since I'm a disc jockey at the Classic Rock station in Kansas City), The Pulse (on SiriusXM).

Well, I honestly don't listen to country stations, but I do go old school and listen to some random country hits, Randy Travis, Anne Murray (Canadian, too!), etc. So you may still be on your own for now.
