Cracked windshield

Back in September, I took a road trip down to SoCal from the Bay Area for a few days. While driving through Burbank on the 5, a rock came up and smacked my windshield pretty hard and cracked it. Over the course of two days while driving, the crack spread and settled to be a total width of about 1-2feet with some curves to it.

I have Allstate and filed a glass claim as soon as it happened and will probably get it fixed around the first of January. Honestly its not too much of a bother, and I'm about to take it back down to SoCal for another trip at the end of this month. I would hate to get it fixed and possibly have it happen once again.

Has anyone else experienced a windshield replacement yet? Any issues or recommendations on who to use in the SF Bay Area?

My car was purchased brand new and I noticed a couple weeks later my weather stripping around the moonroof and front windshield had chunks missing. The dealer replaced my weather stripping around the front windshield, and to do so they said they had to take out the windshield and pop it back in. While I did not get a new windshield I did have it taken out and put back in. I cant notice it at all, no issues.

I went to Hi-Tech Auto Glass in Redwood City to replace my TSX windshield & they replaced it with a Pilkington which is OEM on the TLX. Might be a drive for you from Concord. I bought both my TSX & TLX from Acura of Concord!

I just had mine replaced by Safelite. They did an excellent job and replaced it with an OEM windshield. New one is exactly like the old.

If you have a Tech, they warn you that you may need to have the cameras recalibrated after having the windshield replaced. The tech mentioned it to me but said he rarely sees the need to have it done - I didn't. My lane watch and such work just the same as the original glass.

Here in NJ they can ticket you for a cracked windshield. Not sure how it is in your state, but if it's the same, get it replaced as soon as you can.
