BWP + Espresso or SSM + Graystone?

I finally got to see the Slate Silver at my local dealership today - what a beautiful colour! It is the one that really accentuates the lines of the car the best:

The bluish hue is definitely present but not as strong as Forged Silver. I love it! Now, if I could just design the colours myself though, I would make it a touch more gray than silver. That would just be perfect!

Anyway, I wished that it would come with the Espresso interior, which I love. I am not sure that I love BWP as much as I love SSM.... though it is still a very nice colour and is my current second choice.

Now, this SSM car also came with the Graystone interior, which I checked out today. I really liked how bright and cheery it was!

So, what should I do? SSM + Graystone or BWP + Espresso???

I think that SSM should look less "dirty" than BWP during winter.... which is a serious problem in our Calgarian weather LOL

But would Graystone be difficult to keep clean?

Hmm.... decisions, decisions... I would appreciate your comments! Thanks!

OK, just to be fair, let's post some BWP photos too LOL:

What's more important to you - the interior or the exterior colour???

I think exterior is more important. I have a CBP TSX and it has made me both love/hate black cars. How easy a color is to keep clean is huge and not something I thought about enough with my purchase. Exterior color is also how the rest of the world perceives your car versus an interior which only a few people will ever see.

Also, I can't really see a SSM and espresso color combo really working well. Acura usually doesn't have great ideas with color combos, but in this case, I think it makes sense.

Thanks! I am leaning towards SSM at this moment.... my friends just told me that they had a white car before and it was a nightmare to keep it clean-looking during winter here in Calgary. So that really put me off BWP....

I have to say that the more I look at the Graystone interior, the more I like it. But I still wanted to have a brown leather interior at some point... LOL!

BTW, my 1G TSX was black - it looked really great after I washed it, but it would only last for one day, then it looked dirty again! LOL! Ever since then, I have decided not to get another black car. I have to say that the Black TLX with Espresso interior is a super sharp combination! But that would only be good for showroom though... it would never look that great again once it leaves the showroom! LOL In fact, the black TLX at the dealership already looks terrible after the snow storm a few days ago.... oh well, that just proves my point....

I had a gray leather interior on my BMW. I had no problems with upkeep leather still looked fantastic after 12 years. I even had a grease stain on the rear seat that I was able to get out with no problem.

I'm going with black leather interior on my TLX though. I just love the look of it on the RDX/MDX and how it holds up over time.

Ostrich, in my opinion, you're leaning towards the right decision. SSM with Graystone is my absolute favorite combination for the TLX. White would be my second choice. I would be content with either of those 2 colors but there's just something rich looking about the silver. You won't regret getting the SSM.

SSM + Espresso would be an odd combo to me. SSM + Graystone would be better and more natural. That being said, I'd take BWP + Ebony, Espresso or Graystone over any SSM combo.

I like the Graystone interior. I almost got it with mine.

SSM! I have it with ebony interior and love it. Color is awesome the way it changes shades. Plus it hides dirt much better than white!

Thanks, everyone! I will go and check out the colours again.... but I am surprising myself that I am really leaning towards SSM + Graystone. I never considered Graystone before! Actually, the wood trim inside does go better with Graystone than Espresso.

I took some photos yesterday with a real camera (not just the mobile phone photos above!) but I didn't have time to upload them yesterday. Here they are. I think that they represent the SSM colour quite accurately:

Please note in the next photo that the 3G TL in the background was in the pure silver colour and how it contrasted with this SSM colour with the bluish hue!

I love how this colour's depth shows off the sculpted rear end of the car:

Now, look at how amazing SSM shows off the lines of the TLX:

WOW!

So, given how it looks above with the SSM and 18" rims, would it be unnecessary to add the chrome door trim and the rear deck spoiler?

^^ Nice pics. Anything beside the base I4 is unnecessary, or for that matter anything more than a Civic could be considered unnecessary. But what do you want/need and what looks best to you and will make you look forward to driving it!

^^^ I just added the rear deck spoiler because I had $500 from the dealer to spend, so I said "what the heck". I also think it adds a bit of sport/character to the car without it being gaudy. The other reason was that I would rather them add it at the dealership than me trying to drill into the car later if I decided to get it. I also considered getting the splashguards, but I figured if I wanted that, I could get them cheaper and add it myself later. I'm not as huge a fan of the chrome trim as others, but I haven't seen it in person. Also I wanted to own the car for a bit and see if it was "good enough" before adding it. I'm thinking I'm going to stay away from the chrome trim for now.

OStrich....No need to tell you which color I like best but no doubt that the pics you posted makes the TLX look good and would be my second choice.

As far as accessories, I would still put a deck spoiler and the chrome door sill.....Don't put the body with the chrome sill though

Weather, since you have had a zillion white cars already , how does white exterior do with our Canadian winter? Doesn't it show the dirt/slush/splash/salt/whatever really obviously? I heard it's not as terrible as black, but is it as difficult as some people say?

You must actually think he drives it when the weather isn't sunny.

Oh, you mean Weather just collects white cars that he rarely drives? Oops, I forgot!!! MY BAD!!! ROTFLOL!

Now, I remember that he had his Hyundai Accent and now the ILX that he uses as daily drivers.... but they were still white, right!? LOL

^^^ I have to give SSM that. My white car has road grime on it now after some rain, but it looks light-years better than my past 2 black cars after the same rain. If pollen fell on those cars, it'd look like crap. lol.

Ostrich & Rocketsfan....you guys crack me!!

That is correct...I do not drive my white Acura unless the roads are dry so the little brown hyundai is what does the heavy lifting. The ILX replaced the white RDX but again, never seen rain either....stupid disease but hey, its who I am.

Ostrich....If you are going to drive a white car in our weather, I would think that a clay bar in the spring will get rid of all the crap. Why don't I use one myself? Its because I like my Acura's to have a pristine wheel well, rotors, calipers ad underbody.

Can't go wrong with either color. SSM is a very nice color. Pick whichever color makes you smile.

Vteck, the problem is.... BOTH colours make me smile!

I went back to the dealership today to take a look at both colours. I actually found them both to be beautiful in different ways. The silver colour is more elegant and sophisticated, while the white colour is very sporty and modern.

Decisions, decisions.... :-)

The SSM/Greystone and BWP/Espresso are my top two color choices. Funny that I felt the SSM was the sportier color and the BWP was more elegant. I guess that is why they make color choices. I don't think the Espresso would go well with the SSM. I've had the grey leather interior in the TSX nearly 9 years and it looks pretty good so I'm not worried about upkeep. I do like the lighter color of the Greystone and it goes better with the wood trim than the Espresso. The Espresso with the carbon fiber wrap that Mike Chan did looked great.

At the moment SSM/Greystone V6/Advance is my pick. But both look great.

if those are the only two opinions you have, i would suggest taking the white one.

however, have you considered BWP + graystone? i was never a fan of graystone but last time when i was in the dealer to check out the car, graystone looks beautiful and super clean with BWP. it also makes the wood trim stand out

I like both, but if I was getting it BWP with the Espresso would be my choice..

Actually, I test drove an MDX this past Saturday and if we get one it will be white (WDP on MDX).. If I could get the espresso interior on the MDX thats what I would get because it would be a killer combo.. Too bad it's not available.

Good luck whichever way you go.. You can't go wrong with either.
