Buy now or wait

I have an offer of 38k on the 2015 tlx sh-awd advance. Should I buy now or wait until 2016s come out? Do you think the 2015s will be even cheaper then?

Get it now. Who knows if acura will remove the dealer incentive once the 2016 is out. Hard to beat getting 8k+ off a 46k car

Agree, no need to wait now that the 16 is the same as the 15. The discount is appropriate since the car is in effect one year older and when you go to sell it someday it will be valued as a 2015 even though you didn't really own it that year and it is more like a 2016 in age.... if that makes any sense.

Of course they'll be cheaper as time goes on. It comes down to your decision, do you want to get the car now or wait? I'd buy it now, 38k for an sh-awd advance is sweet! The color combo you want might not come back in stock either. My local Acura dealership is cutting sweet deals on 2015's and they said once the 2016's come in stock they're done ordering 2015's. That means they might sell the 2015 color combo you want and then have to go with a 2016 model and price. Keep us posted on your decision

I'm in the "buy it now" camp, especially if you can get the color combo you want. The price is right and you can enjoy it sooner.

How bad do you want it? I paid $38,900 for my 2015 tlx sh-awd advance 2 months ago in July. If you care about resale value and not in a rush ask the dealer if they would match that price when the 2016s roll out. If you dont care then think about what Nike would tell you to do...Just Do it!

How long did you spend working to get the best price? I care about resale value, but it seems like the price matches up to that. So this is a nice way to get a new car for a relatively low price.

But I agree that the resale value will be closely tied to the year and not just the mileage.

I'm looking to get black/black most likely, which seems sort of popular.

Do you think the model year difference equates to about $2000 to $2500 in value? In that case, the discount price I am getting now is well worth it. I doubt that I could get a 2016 for $2500 more than the price I have on the 2015.

I took the decision to buy now than wait until early next year to buy it. Because I got a great price for 2015 SHAWD with advanced package. To be exact I got it for $36910. So for that price I decided to buy it eventhough my car requirement is early next year. Because if I waited until early next year I m sure for that price I have to settle for a used 2015 car rather than new car.

Personally, I know EXACTLY what I wanted. A SH-AWD with advance package (fully loaded) in Graphite Luster Metallic with Ebony interior

I paid $38,900 before taxes and about $43,900 OTD with spoiler and spare tire kit.

The only 2 in southern california with my options and color combo both were at the 2 closest dealers to me, (less than 10 miles each). So I called Dealer A and said "blah blah blah this is the car I want what is your BEST price out the door". Followed by another phone call to dealer B saying "blah blah blah Dealer A said they could do this can you BEAT that?" And they would knock like $200 off and I would say OK and call back Dealer A and say "Now dealer B will do this much can YOU beat this?" It went back and forth like that for a few days haha. But Toward the end both dealers said we are done negotiating over the phone. I went with one dealer over the other cuz I wanted to get my car serviced there. Also, when I bought the car BRAND NEW there was a tiny scratch on it I was not happy about, but I am 2 months in now and have NEVER seen the scratch after buying it since its in such a low location on the drivers door. I got a free spoiler from Dealer A cuz of the scratch

GOOD LUCK

As far as VALUE goes

I know a 2016 on paper is worth more than a 2015, but its the SAME THING. I plan on keeping this car 10-15 years so at that point one year difference wont mean much. I mean is there a difference buying a used 2000 Acura TL vs 2001 Acura TL right now? Probably not much if any since I sell my cars private party

I think it depends where you live in the country. I contacted 6 dealers in my state and I only got one down to $39,900 and that was like pulling teeth. All the others were ~$40,800 and claimed the $2,250 was included in the price they gave me and I didn't have the energy to push the issue. I'll wait until the time is right for me - still love the 2007 TL.

I've always looked at buying a car late in the model year as appearing to have lower miles when it ultimately sells. 3 years from now, you have two 2015s sitting in a used car lot, one has 30k miles, the other 45k. Or better yet, you have a 2016 with 30k sitting next to a 2015 with 30k even though both sold on the same day...which will look like it was driving harder?

I bought this week and I'd been shopping for about two months and the prices came down a lot in the last 10 days. If you can still find a 2015 in a few months, you're going to get a smoking deal.

Well I hadn't planned to buy a car today but that is what happened. I ran by TX Direct Auto on my way into work and got my TSX appraised. $10,000 for a 2006 TSX Tech, in great shape with 60K miles. The dealership I bought that car had a new TLX Advance SSM/Grey and I e-mailed my salesman around lunch and asked him for $3K off invoice ($2K plus $1K for loyalty) and I'd take it by Wed. He agreed. I got there around 6:30. He brought the car around (still had shipping stickers on it) and I put about 20 miles on it testing the transmission. It felt good. I didn't notice any unusual shifts in various modes. I hope it stays that way. I had planned to just work a deal and come back on Wed, buy we ended up doing it right on the spot. I ended up trading in the TSX. They matched the offer I had (after tax savings). He could not give me the $1K loyalty because that only applied to leases. I did get $750 Military and he took another $250 off. The car had mudflaps and wheel locks which I did not get charged for. It was the most painless car purchase ever. I had worked the numbers out before I left and the final numbers were a few cents less in the end. Drove home with about 67 miles on the car (started with 11).

The effective sales price was $37,828 (before tax etc). The final deal matched my post tax, fees calculation I did before I got to the dealer, but numbers were massaged to get it there.

I would not have bought now if it weren't for this deal. I would have waited until Jan but I would not have got this deal then either. So now I have a new SSM Advance sitting in the driveway and my reliable TSX is a memory. I have so much to learn about this car. But this car handles the freeway so well. Very nice!

Now is the best time to buy if you are on the fence, but do so by Wed. Stock in the color you want in the trim you want may be limited even though there are a lot of TLX's out there. Only two other SSM/Grey/Advance in Houston and I got the most recent build.

Note: Invoice on the FWD Advance is $39,908 + 920 = 40,828. In Houston they add $300 advertising fee.

Mostly highway, some stop and go. I just told my sales guy I was concerned about the transmission and he let me drive as much as I wanted. He already knew I wanted the car so it was not an issue.

There are some great deals posted here. As I mentioned in a prev post, I cant get any dealer in CT below $40,700 (including incentives)... I was ready to buy but its tough in this area. Does anyone know if the October incentives for the 2015 TLX will be better that the September? If not, I keep driving the 07 TL. it only has 101k miles on it.

Congrats on the purchase. And I thought I had a low mileage TSX, 05 with 79K, which is also in great shape....

There is a CPO 5k miles TLX SH-AWD at Park Avenue for 36,596. Not saying this one isn't a tranny problem but a 4 thousand dollar discount off your best price for 5200 miles seems like a bargain to me. There are some others on cargurus as well. I bought my V6 with 6k miles(and 8500 off sticker) and you can tell it's not just fresh off the truck. A few miles blows a bunch of depreciation right out.

Thanks Maltlx. And its in the color combo I want. I'll contact the dealer and see if I can get this weekend - its pretty far journey from where I am in CT but doable if the deal on the trade is worth it.

It is all about supply and demand and most importantly end of month incentives. I think my car was the last month of 2015 production, and once these cars are sold off then the incentives will probably dry up as 2016's roll in. I hadn't planned to buy until Jan but that combo was too good to pass up.

Only drove it to church on Sundays Also no kids, no pets, no smoking, and tint from day one. So the interior looked new.

Fwiw, I was working with Curt Lewis there and bought my TLX last week and it was the best car buying experience I've had. No pressure, no bait and switch, etc. I remember my first new car that I bought in the 80s...they(Ford dealer) pulled every rotten trick you can imagine. Now I just do most of the work on the internet and only visit once we have some idea where we are.

I also notice in my previous statement that I wrote "can tell it's not fresh off the truck" and mean _Can't_. Lol, one word changes the meaning entirely. It looks and smells brand new.

I have an offer for a tlx tech shawd for $36,200 from a dealer in CT who is trying to get business from a dealer I've been using for a long time. I think this is a good price and I'm going to counter with $35,700 including doc fee. Is this a fair price? The initial offer I used was the KBB fair market value and they told me the incentives were already baked into that price. I doubt that's true - can someone confirm if that's the case?

For the people here I brought a TLX SHAWD Advanced package for 37410 from Pohanka Acura. Please send them an email asking the eprice and you get this number without any negotiation. Then I arranged a shipping service to bring the car here. No games, no bait and switch. I am from Massachusetts and closest I got to match that deal was $39400. So it was a no-brainer for me to head down there.

That is an amazing price. I noticed that some of the cars they are selling look like loaners. Is that a new car price?
