Thumbs up Awesome Climate Control

1st, let me say this is my 6th Acura; 2CL's, 3TL's, & my current SH-AWD/Tech/TLX.
Anyway, today it hit 86* on the BQE in NYC; time to test out the A/C.
All I can say is, WOW! Acura finally has true Climate Control
In the Auto mode, the Recirculate/Fresh air, actually works properly; as does the fan speed; best of all, the coolness of the A/C, is more Lexus like, than Acura.
Kept it on 72*/Sync, for both the wife & I; worked flawlessly
My older Acura's never semed to get it right, & the cold air wasn't cold enough; no more! Kudo's to Acura R&D, for finally getting it right; plus, it's practically silent, quiet, with no engine lag, or compressor noise.
Between my DTS Steely Dan/Gaucho, audio, & the quiet comfortable cabin, the ride is light year's better than my 2012 SH-AWD/TL/Tech
Couldn't be happier. Love my TLX!

So you have 4 cyl or 6?

On my v8 Lexus a/c is amazing and quiet. However on my tsx I can feel when compressor comes on, but ac is cold and dual temp works perfect

Best was my ct200 Lexus since it's all electric . Coldest Japanese ac I ever felt almost on par with gm escalade ac

Often engine size makes a diff unless ac is electric like hybrids

I echo the comments about the TLX climate control. I find it comes on earlier, works faster, and moderates fan speed more quickly than either my 2012 TSX or my current 2014 Altima SL. It is a very quiet and efficient system, like most things on this car.

I too have nothing to complain about with the HVAC unit as a whole. I keep it set in auto and it works wonderfully. I would say that it is even better than my CTS in this regard. The Caddy is very good, but it pales in comparison to my TLX. As it starts getting hotter, I'll have a better grasp of just how much better/worse it is.

I used my a/c for the first time yesterday too. It works great! The cabin cools down quickly and the compressor is very quiet. I love my TLX, this is a great car!

My only complaint about the climate control is during colder months the air from the windshield vents will come out cold when in Auto mode. I am not the only owner to gripe about this.

I hugged my car the first time I fired up the AC after it sitting in 100 degree heat outside. It cools off pretty quickly. Of course after that first time, I remembered I had remote start and could've cooled it off a bit before I got there. Durr. The vented seats help cooling the seats, too.

I love the remote start on this car! The range of the remote is awesome. It was fairly warm yesterday afternoon and I used the RS.. my car was nice and cool when I opened the door.

I sure agree with all the comments on the fine climate control system, but I am REALLY in the minority concerning the ventilated (and heated) seats.

My Lexus had them and I probably used the ventilation a couple of times in five years, and it occasionally gets quite hot in so California. Guess only the surrounding air temp is what keeps me cool. Perhaps actual refrigerated seats would be a different story. Or perhaps the Lexus ventilation wasn't very good.

I only used the heated seats once just to see if they worked. And my wife's ATS has heated seats AND steering wheel and she hasn't even bothered to see if they work. Not many really cold days here, however.

As I said, definitely in the minority.

We've only had one warm day so far this year (80ish) but for sure the auto climate control works very well in these temps. But it does have winter weather quirks, big time. The Truth About Cars recently ran a feature on auto climate control. How so many people (yes I am going to be sexist and say usually women) don't understand it. But comments that followed showed loads of people even car enthusiasts who hate it- which I just don't get. Even if you don't like it (why?) you have full manual control. Personally done well it is almost the best thing since sliced bread. The very best thing being heated steering wheels....and Rolo ice cream.

Isn't this to remove moisture from the air?

Maybe so, but my RLX does not do that. It is quite uncomfortable in winter months to have cold air blowing on to the face - auto temp has to be set to 85° to keep this from happening. A design flaw in my opinion.

I'm glad to hear it works well in the summer because it's winter performance (both functionality and controls) were disappointing to the point of being unacceptable...Especially for a $45K car. The more I read the more I see the Tech package works well and exceeds owner's expectations but the Advance package doesn't work well below 20 degrees at all.

I never had that happen to me. I kept the temp in AUTO at around 70 degrees all winter and it never blew cold air in my face. Not sure what happened there.

One of your dampers may be faulty and is not closing when it is supposed to. Unfortunately they are behind the dash and they may be hard to troubleshoot.

You've got a winner. It's a first-world problem for sure, but a nuisance anyway. Mine had to be between 78-80 to stay comfortable, and I'm hot-natured. Oh well!

I was going to comment that you're in TX, but my friends in Texas were below freezing a couple more days than I was!

I actually live in a cold climate and never had the issue. Of course, in automatic, it should not blow until the car warms up a little. If not in auto mode, different story. I also wonder if there is a difference between the outside air intake vs the recycled inside air setting?

Got a good chuckle about how his GF doesn't get it.
My wife is the same way; she's always warm, & I'm always cold; (except in the summer). Subsequently, the Dual-Zone Auto synced setting doesn't work for us.
I like 72*, & she likes 66-68*
Guess we need a partition!

My wife doesn't get it either. Get in a cold car, change the temperature setting and expects instant heating or cooling. Also her first reaction is to increase the fan speed and change the heated seat setting to 2 or 3 bars. OTOH, I just about set it on Auto and forget it, with the occasionally change between 22C and 23C.

I do feel a significant difference between my V6 TLX and my wife's 2013 RDX. Seems like the aircon is way cooler and I can't even tell when the compressor kicks in. I actually feel cold in this car at the same temp. I used to have a 2007 TL and that wasn't this cold either.

This anomaly does not happen until after 45 - 60 minutes driving time. For thos who live around Houston, when I drive from The Woodlands to Dallas, the "cold air encroachment" happens as I pass through Huntsville. I have had to dealer twice for issue and report states "operating as desinged". When it happens now I turn off auto and heat manually. Summer AC works like a charm in auto.
