Auto Tilt Side Mirrors on Reverse

I've had my TLX for about a week, I've only noticed this now...that the side mirrors do not both tilt at the same time on reverse. If the switch is on L, only the left side tilts, and similarly if the switch is on R, only the ride side tilts. But if the switch is in the middle, neither mirror tilts. Is this normal or should both mirrors tilt at the same time if the switch is in the middle.

Normal. My 2006 TL did this. My 2009 MDX does this. My 2015 TLX does this.

I assume it's designed for parallel parking. The tilted side helps you view the curb and the normal side helps you watch for on-coming traffic.

Personally I use this feature a lot when backing into my driveway and garage so I don't run over my landscape logs. Also when I want to back into a space at work or a restaurant where I park at the end of the row. Quite handy on either side of the car. It would be nice if both mirrors went down at the same time, like some other cars do, but I am happy with what I have.

Same! My driveway curves around to the back of my house where my garage is. I use the driver's side mirror tilted to watch the edge of the driveway and then the raised edge inside the garage so I don't get curb rash.

Noooooorrrrrrmal. In my TSX, only the right side tilted. So nice that both sides tilt. I back in on the left side of my driveway, but parallel park on the street for work sometimes. It's perfect.
