Anyone with the base leatherette please post picture
i am curious how the base/leatherette seats hold up. One of the most turn off for me in a car is wrinkle leather and I am actually consider my next car with leatherette
I will be very interested as well. BTW, not to change the subject, but I have found 4 things that cause excessive wrinkling:
1. Cheap leather - better off with leatherette in that case. The Milano leather in the TLX is not cheap leather.
2. Dried out. Use a quality treatment cream regularly
3. Overweight driver/passenger. Excessive weight creates more wrinkling.
4. Black leather is more practical in some ways, but also shows wrinkling more noticeably.
I'd be shocked if any leather (or leatherette) showed noticeable wrinkles in less than 3 years. I think it was more like 5 or 6 before I noticed it in my brand T car. I will admit to being a "lightweight" though. 😊

From the pictures of the TLX first drive from car magazine the expresso leather look really wrinkle. Those cars barely have few hundred miles
I noticed the wrinkling to be more noticeable on the actual leather seats. I have a V6 base TLX with black leatherette (2500 miles) and it looks brand new still with no wrinkles. I'm pretty average height and weight. The leatherette appears that it will hold up well over time. I can take a picture in the next day or two and post it for you if you would like

Yes please, I was hoping for someone with a lot more miles like 10k but your pictures are appreciate as well
DI'd you have any regret on the base over the tech?
Sure, I'll take some pictures during the day and then get them posted for you. I really do not regret getting the base. I did not really care for the extra technology features (lane change assist, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, etc.). Overall the only feature I wanted from the tech package was the ELS sound system, but that alone was not worth $4000 to me. I turned off the noise cancellation in my base v6, and the sound system sounds better now. I was able to get the base V6 for $3000 off MSRP so I am very happy with my purchase and would buy the base model if I had to do it again.

How do you turn off the noise cancellation, beside use Sport mode?
I'm not positive, but I dont think sport mode turns off noise cancellation. You can access the developer menu in both the tech and base models and there is an option for noise cancellation and it can be turned off

For the base models: Hold back + menu + audio to get to the first menu. Hold enter to get to the second menu. Find ANC and turn it off
For the tech models: Hold nav + back + menu to get to the first screen. Hold menu to get to the second developer screen. Scroll down and you will see an option called ANC Diag. Go into this feature and turn ANC off
Here are pics of the base black leatherette seats as promised. 2500 miles on them (these pics are of the drivers seat). Even a brand new car at the dealer will have a few wrinkles in them just due to the seams and the stitching. Overall the seats are holding up fine and I do not foresee any long term issues
I realized in my earlier post that I was talking about "cracking" - those lines in the leather or leatherette that appear on the bolsters usually. This is more of a problem than the wrinkling originally mentioned in this thread, at least from my perspective.

Mapleloaf, similar to the creams/treatments they make for leather seats, are you aware of anything being availabe for leatherette seats just to make sure they stay in good condition?
Good question. I know that the creams don't work as well on leather seats that are less expensive and have a coating (like my Altima). However, a good liquid cleaner should work (I use Malco). I also copied below a post from a BMW forum thread (and who has more experience caring for leatherette
"Leatherette is more durable than real leather. Anything that you can use with leather, you should be able to use with leatherette but not the other way around. On ordinary smooth leatherette, soapy water will work wonders just not soak the leatherette, at least that has been my experience".
