Acura TLX obtained the #1 Ranking!

I, personally follow US News Rankings & Reviews website religiously. Their reviews are not biased and their rankings are pretty accurate.

TLX was first placed 3rd, then moved to 2nd and today I checked - #1!!!

True...but the tie is with 2 great cars. It's an accomplishment to tie with BMW and the IS. Respect

Their review is based off a consensus of other reviews. Almost like an average if you will with a little of their own input. More meaningful than any one review to a lot of folks out there.

Their reviews are the best. It's the least biased ones. They take the average. Anyway, it's your opinion.

I believe in that website and I respect their findings and ranking. If you don't like it...please ignore this thread.

What gives? Their groupings are all over the map. The TLX it not one of the contenders for "Car of the Year" but is listed under "Luxury Car of the Year" along with MB S-Class and Maserati. But the BMW M3 & M4 and MB C-Class are in both classes. Smells of some funny business.

^^ I assume this was before you had your problem with your TLX? I really sucks the problem you encountered....I haven't made it to the problem section to see if you had a resolution yet but hope it will get fixed

Thanks! I still have no resolution, I did get a call from Acura today and was told they can not figure it out. They said I could either leave the car for them to find it or I could come pick it up. I'm leaving it, I won't pick it up until something gets fixed! This whole thing is depressing me, but it will work out I'm sure!

They really did a nice job with the C class, and took it up a notch in terms of its premium feel, so I am not surprised the TLX came in second to it. Their most recent styling with the bulbous front ends is in my eyes.

Of course their pricing similarly equipped will be quite different, but that is less of a factor for reviews such as this.

But C class looks amazing, not sure how it drives but definitely beautiful!

I am happy with #2.

^^ I must be the minority but given the choice between the TLX and the new C class, I'll take the TLX any day! I think the TLX is a great looking vehicle (especially in person) and will age better than the C class in my opinion.

No question that the interior of the C class feels more luxurious but still prefer that of the TLX in its overall style and look.

^^ I'm with you. Acura and the TLX are getting my money.

I'm liking the interiors and rear of the new Mercedes, but other than for the new S class, I really hate how they executed the new front ends of the other sedans.

Especially since the C class has that display that looks like an I-Pad cemented on the dash. Looks like an afterthought. I think Road & Track called it a TV on a stick!

Really detracts from the interior, at least for me.

Agree 100% and the new Lexus NX suv has the same kind of nav screen. I can see a potential recall when the velcro wears out.

I agree with all of you!!!

in general Honda/Acura cars age much better than other cars. For example, compare 2004 Acura TL to 2004 G35.

C class is very luxury - there is not doubt .

You could not give me the new C Class with the screen that looks like an iPad duct taped to the top of the dash.

I chose the TLX over the new C class as the equivalent MB would have been a minimum of $12,000 more expensive. It is also a good looking car except for the stuck on iPad. I am not convinced that it will age better than the TLX. My 2008 C-class is in excellent condition, and rattle/squeak free unlike my old TL. Only time will tell how they both stand the test of time.

Actually, I am another one who chose the TLX over the new C Class. I did not like the C Class for a few things:

1. The interior space felt much more cramped than the TLX

2. Yes, that "stuck on" navi thing looked cheap... oh, it is indeed a Garmin - seriously!

3. I thought that while the TLX looked much better in person than in photos, the C Class was the other way round - it looked amazing in photos but in reality, it really did not look as good. Don't get me wrong, it's still nice but nothing as striking as in photos.

4. I was scared to buy a first year new model by a German manufacturer but I feel comfortable getting a first year new model by Acura or Lexus....

5. The local MB dealerships have a bad reputation.... esp. with the service department.... hmm.... not a good thing as one may need to see the service guys often!!!!!! LOL

I agree with you there....Not sure why Acura look so much better in person and vice versa with other brands. I felt the exact same way when I saw the C class in the flesh.

There is also the difference in servicing cost. MB service is typically every 14,000-19,000km vs 6,000-10,000km for the TLX, and over 100,000km the MB is about 50% more expensive. So it is high out of pocket with lower inconvenience.

Around 110,000km there is the costs of the timing belt replacement on the Acura which the MB does not require, so it could be similar by 150,0000km.

But Quandry, it's really the hypothetical out-of-warranty, non-routine maintenance costs of the MB (and BMW, Audi etc) that really scares the heck out of me... LOL!

Oh, and ironically, the local BMW dealerships here in Calgary are both owned by the same person - I have no idea how BMW corporate would allow that to happen - so they have total monopoly over the market here. Come to think of it, Audi is the same way here in Calgary - both dealerships being owned by the same person! How ridiculous is that!? Starting this year, the BMW dealerships here would charge about $25 per day for a loaner car.... hmm... with the reliability issues of the BMW, if you run into trouble with your car and requires a loaner, and if you car needs to stay with your BFF Service Advisor for a while, then it may cost you quite a bit just for having a loaner... another reason why I didn't want to go BMW.

Surely, there must be some anti-monopoly, anti-trust law in Calgary/Canada? Or perhaps not as we seem to have lots of this non-sense going on around here....

Oops, I digress.... LOL

Franchise ownership monopoly is not good for the consumers, but not against the law. There are a couple of Audi dealers just outside of Toronto owned by the same group, but I am not aware of any common Acura ownership.

I continued my Acura ownership as the dealer is 25 minutes walking distance away or free shuttle in poor weather and I can generally schedule appointments when it is convenient and do no need a car. Audi was my primary choice but they were 35-40 drive away. Not convenient, plus other factors.

Every model look better on certain colors or angles.
Its my cent but car magazines choose the worst color and the worst angles when they test a Acura.

I can't stand those taillights -- hideous. The rest of the exterior is quite nice though.

I agree, that tapered rear end just does nothing for me, in fact, that is part of the thing I disliked about my 4G TL. I like a nice square rear end (on a car)....that is element I love about the TLX and even the ILX for that matter.

I do love the integrated dual exhaust tips though....
