4cyl Loaner while V6 sh-awd in shop. LOVE the tranny!
WOW! I got a 4cyl tech as a loaner while my V6 SH-AWD Advance package was getting work done
IMMEDIATLY within 5 seconds of pulling out of the dealer lot I noticed my hand resting on the gear shifter. It normally just hangs off as I place my elbow on my center console in my V6 so actually for a bit enjoyed having the shifter vs push buttons
THE TRANSMISSION. wow wow wow wow wow does that shift lightning quick compared to my V6. Watching the needle on the RPM gauge move so quickly is amazing. It made it a BLAST TO DRIVE and it seemed "more fun" than my V6.
Overall I thought the 4cyl is more "peppy" and almost feels more fun to drive! (I KNOW!) It seemed quicker and more zippier going around town but that may be due to the quicker shifts also. I did notice how much louder it is to drive with the sound of the engine compared to the V6.
I have a new respect for the people who decided to get the 4cyl compared to the v6. I do think the rims are super ugly personally but those can easily be changed out.
Coming from a 2001 TL with the manual shifting option with the lever I used the manual shifting mode 98% of everyday driving, literly used it all the time! In my new 2015 TLX V6 I NEVER use the paddle shifters (maybe 5%), it is not the same thing as using my right hand and doesnt feel the same. HOWEVER after driving the 4cyl dual cluth transmission I prefer using the paddle shifters in the 4cyl because its way more fun. WOW is that a huge difference!
Advice: If your looking at purchasing a 4cyl or V6, test drive them both back to back. Personally, I have no regrets with the v6 since I wanted the advance pkg not available on the 4cyl

I love my 4cyl. It feels kind of fast and i love the fast smooth upshifts. The only thing I don't like is the sometimes rough shifts, and the tranny gets confused when you slow, but don't come to a complete stop, then accelerate again. Other than that it is great paired with the high revving 4 cyl.
Much faster than my TSX was and I have 20s now as opposed to 19s on my TSX.

I also love ours, and we don't have the issues that SinCity seems to occasionally have.
The manual mode with the paddle shifters is a blast on mountain roads, and I remain amazed at the smooth shifts at highway speeds. It doesn't have the power of the V6, so it needs to gear down for hills, highway passing, etc. The DCT seems to do this seamlessly - you hardly notice it.
Not knocking the V6 - If you like or need the power, it's the way to go.

I never cared about the "Dual Clutch Transmission" thing before but now that I drove the 4cyl I wish they put that 8spd DCT in the v6 vs the 9 speed tranny that is nothing special. Oh well, its what I like to call a 1st world problem.

I drove a 4cyl twice and was blown away at how fast the transmission shifted but, even though the numbers suggest otherwise, it felt slower and had more engine noise than my TSX. In actuality, I think the reductions in wind and road noise made the engine seem louder. That said, I think the 9AT is a POS so it's a shame the 8DCT can't handle the torque of the V6.

After Driving new Acuras, ILX 2016 or TLX 2016 and following consumer reports. Both Acura model having transmission issues. The 4 Cyl dual clutch 7 speed is better than the V6 Cyl in sport mode, however ILX in D mode (not sport) as members said the confusion on low speed and i noticed also the engine mounts kinda do a jerk, i even asked my SA at Cerriotos. Don't get me wrong the car in Sport mode is good "thumbs up" and engine sounds great, however the real torque of the car comes with RPM above 4000 to 5900. that been said you need to keep high rpm otherwise its honda civic.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious, why a car with less than 1500 miles needs a shop ?? so for the first 800 miles i really driven the car slow with no harsh brakes etc. Then i realized when accelerating the car vibrates not the steering wheel, the whole car. I took it to ACURA and a mechanic did a test drive, at once he noticed the shake/vibrating. The car with less than 1500 miles on it, never driven hard or anything. Anyway after a week the car both front axles were replaced. I still feels the car shakes just because i'm picky and this is my first ever brand new car i ever bought. all my other cars were used, but i guess I'm not lucky.

+1. the only thing that it doesn't do is stay in a gear on the upshift. i had a v6 fwd loaner before i bought mine and it would stay in the gear until you shifted up. i just like having that control to bounce off the limiter once before hitting the next gear.

WHAT GRADE OF GASOLINE DO I PUT IN THE LOANER???
I always have put 91 in my TLX just because it is new but I know it is only "recommended" so in the loaner what do I put? I wouldnt be surprised if a previous renter already has put 87 in it....thoughts???
My TLX is in the shop at only 3,000 miles for 2 reasons:
1) Fix my spoiler, its coming undone slightly and strarting to buy me
2) My windshield molding cracking, see my thread under "problems and fixes" for a photo.

Yes, that's kind of annoying. The initial downshift is a tad bit slow as well.
