Welp... the spare tire is optional from the looks of it.

I predict at least 6 threads on this topic over the next few years... But NOT in this thread please. Just posted this here for info, not debate.

Also it doesn't specifically call out I4 or V6.

I like the larger fuel tank too

"Fuel recommendation: Unleaded premium gasoline with a pump octane
number 91 or higher recommended
Fuel tank capacity: 17.2 US gal (65 liters)

================================================
Interesting.....

Seat Belt e-pretensioners*

"Are the motor-powered pretensioners that
start to retract the front seat belts when the
CMBS (TM), brake assist system, or VSA® system
is in operation. They may also activate when
you steer the vehicle hard, or the vehicle is
impacted. After retracted, the seat belts are
slackened to their original positions.
As convenient features, the e-pretensioners
slightly retract the seat belts when you latch
the seat belt buckle, depress the brake pedal
more aggressively than you normally do, or
make a sharp turn, and fully retract when you
release the seat belt buckle. "

Nice!....

"While the engine is running, the vehicle will
automatically precondition inside the vehicle.
When it is warm outside:
• The air conditioning is activated in recirculation mode.
• The seat ventilation is activated*.

When it is cold outside:
• The defroster is activated at a moderately warm temperature.
• The rear defogger and door mirror heaters are activated.
• The seat and heated steering wheel are activated*.

2 Front Seat Heaters and Seat

Convenient

With the electronic gear shift....

■ When opening the driver’s door

If you open the driver’s door under the following conditions, the gear position
automatically changes to [P]
• The vehicle is stationary with the engine running, or moving at 1 mph (2 km/h) or slower.
• The transmission is in other than [P].
• You have unfastened the driver side seat belt.

> If you manually change the gear position from [P] with the brake pedal
depressed, the gear position will automatically return to [P] once you release
the brake pedal.

■ When turning off the power mode

If you turn the engine off while the vehicle is stationary, and the transmission is in other than [P], the gear position automatically changes to [P].

Compared to my car, this car (Advanced trim) is like the space shuttle.

I think I'm going to like it.

Smartass question: if someone takes this car to go get his/her driver's license test, can he/she use all this gear automation, or the examiner during the road test will cut them?

One thing I find neat and interesting is most of the indicators are using the multi-function display to indicate something. In the past this was stuff like "Door Ajar" or "Trunk Open", but now "VSA Off", "Electric Power Steering (EPS) Problem", ... They are start on page 70.

Cuts down on the number of warning lights and trying to figure out the symbology, now they can use a display and add some words. Pretty cool.

Light bulbs on on pg 522, was hoping for LED turn signals. Most of the bulbs are LED's, still some filament bulbs.

Page 259 on all the settings that can be customized
You can even use phone, contact photo's to be displayed on texts, calls and emails

Also cannot believe the radio/infotainment system cannot receive HD-Radio, great free digital stations.

How is that a reliability issue? It's a whole new transmission setup.

Probably it's because of the new gazillion gear ZF transmissions. I guess they need more babying.

Well. That's a nice everyday improvement in livability.

This summer, it has annoyed me a couple of times that my RLX's seat ventilation didn't come on with the HVAC when it was 100 degrees outside.

The 4 uses the Honda 8DCT, the V6 uses the ZF 9AT
I did notice that there is a new Honda ATF fluid specified.

I like where they've gone with the features of the TLX Advance's systems.

Once again, I get the feeling that the American design team is ahead of the Japanese design team, and I see many features that I prefer to how my RLX is set up.

In Maryland you cannot use any automatic parking aids, not sure if that includes using the rear view camera and distance sensors thought.

I do not see that as a reliability concern. with all the extra gears and more parts shifting more often I think it is a good thing.

I see Acura only gives US model only at 2 quart windshield washer tank and no low fluid indicator ! Acura still dosnt get it. It matters in north east when your windshield is white with salt and you run out of fluid. You would think a 40k car would have that on it.

Albeit mostly insignificant its nice that you can add your own wallpaper to the status screen. Overall the audio system looks pretty good. Hopefully the signal output from the head unit is as good or better than the 3G. Don't really care about he speakers as I'd probably gut and replace them anyway.

Honda are known for low maintaince and long term reliability. this one is starting at lower reliability from the start that's why more often maintainance. It will never match the Global reliability of Accord Euro/TSX.

You read my mind! But for the 4G. Given the chronic torque converter issues (doesn't lock 4th at low speed/rpm when hot), I was wondering what are the specs of that fluid regarding temperature tolerances. I guess we'll find out soon....

40K is not to me more maintenance, not sure what he AWD needs in the 5G, but I thought the 4G the AWD fluid service came up around 10K miles.

I agree with the Power Steering Wheel not being included. It's strange that it's included in the MDX Tech package, but not included in the TLX Advance package.

I think I would want a Canadian model over US model. Heated windshield , heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, head light washers, bigger windshield washer tank with low level indicator and power folding mirrors. I live in a cold area and items would be nice to have. Acura needs to offer options like other manufactures do.

Where are you getting the lower reliability from??? WTH? This car hasn't even hit the road yet so there is no record of its reliability.

Are you just looking for reasons to dislike this car?

So I know people get disappointed in some features being left out or only on the Advance trim. But in defense of Avura, they clearly made an strong value pricing statement and strategy and to do that they had to make some decisions on what features buyers must have on their check list to buy and what features will not jeopardize sales much if left out. My guess is most people are multi car families and the steering wheel rarely gets adjusted and I also guess that power steering wheel adjustment feature costs s decent amount. My guess ismth safety features are what attract family buyers looking at 4 door value cars. Sure I would love to,have all around view camera, never had it until my A6 never thought I would care, but love it. That said would I buy a TLX even without it, if I like the drive and such then the lack of power steering adjustment or all around, etc will not likely deter me.

Yup! That's what I was trying to do with some of my earlier posts on the interior and tech pics / comments on my RLX. The TLX is more than just about what it looks like on the outside.

I'm also with George that I already saw a few things improved that I would like to see in updates for the RLX, aside from the bigger stuff like getting IDS, rear A/C controls, remote start included (not an option), etc). I'm also curious to test out how much better the new capacitive touch-screen is versus the resistive we have now in the RLX. I'm hoping it feels more solid to the touch like an iPhone does versus those older gen Blackberry's that used resistive touch-screens. As wells as it being far more responsive. I also hope the new NAV system has better processing power than the RLX. That continues to be one of the few major sore spots for me in the RLX.

Yea, I noticed that as a step back from the RLX/MDX. I really like this feature, especially that it auto-raises/lowers when getting in and out of the vehicle to make it easier to get in/out of your seat (especially for those of us who like a tighter driving posture in the vehicle).

They should definitely have made this part of the Advanced Trim, especially when you have lesser Tier 3 vehicles that have it. That certainly doesn't work well towards the "luxury" part of their initiatives for the TLX to get Acura back on the luxury map.

FYI, we all have the option to order each manual on line, have a hard copy delivered to your home address. When you sign on to the Acura's owners site, register the car, you can order within 6 months of the lease or purchase date if you don't want to download it.
