I need help, I have almost 60,000 miles on my 09 TL, Michelin OEM tires are wearing out. What do I replace them with?? Was going to go with the Continental DWS, then I read some people get flat spots in the AM, Looking at the Michelin Primacy MXM4, but hey have a "H" speed rating, Acura says the TL needs a "V" speed rating. Any and all help will be apprciated. I live in Wisconsin and want to put all season tires on???

 

The ones you're probably looking for are the Michelin Primacy MXV4. Those are are speed rated "V". I don't have personal experience with them, but they seem highly rated on tirerack.

 

Not the MXMV4, its a new tire on the Michelin web sight, it is MXM4. Tire rack shows them but to new for reviews.

 

I personally don't like Michelin tires. When i need to replace my tires, I will be going to these brands as I have had good luck with these in the past.

Acura told me the same thing, that they wouldnt put non "V" rated tires on...so I went on tirerack, checked out Sears and checked out Mavis Tires....I settled on the "H" rated Primacy MXM4, all of which said it would be fine on the TL...the speed rating was like a 19mph difference, 130mph vs 149mph and they said it wouldnt make any real difference on a consumer vehicle.

Mavis and tire rack had them for ~$170 each and sears had them for 250...I usually deal with Sears so I got them to do a price match, and I also ordered them black friday and got a bonus $70 giftcard. I got them installed this past Saturday (which turned out to be a bad plan, sears was packed) but overall I'm liking them so far, they feel really good on all surfaces so far, only got around 60-70 miles on them so far though.

I went primacy because the wear rating was 500, insted of the Pilots 300...I had to replace them after 34k miles, which to me seems way to early on a $38k car..

 

Replaced the HPT-Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 with A/S Plus(245/40/ZR19). Great handling right out of the box. Wet weather traction is good, but haven't been in the snow with them yet. Remember that the only thing between you and the cold hard pavement is the rubber on that tire. This is not an area where you should be a cheap penny pincher.

 

I second the Pilot Sport PS2 A/S Plus. I had my 19" summer HPT replaced by the dealership as part of the purchase of my TL.

Pretty awesome and slick tires (no pun intended) on the snow/ice, up hill traction and down hill traction very solid. The tires in combo with SH-AWD negotiated the recent Seattle snow storm with ease.

I had the Pilot Sport A/S Plus (18" rear) on my Lexus I gave up on... didn't use the tires much... but this tire had this new tire smell (rubber) to it when walking by the car. The Continental DWS up front didn't have this particular "smell". Don't know if this means Michelin uses better "rubber" in their factory, but nonetheless it was something I noticed.

 

I had the Primacy H rated tires on my last car. I didn't like them quite as much as the previous Michelins I had on the car, but overall they were fine. When new, the tires had a tendency to "wander" on grooved freeways, but that seemed to go away as they accumulated more miles.

 

I use Michilin Pilot Sport A/S Plus 18" on my TL. Good tires IMO. Great traction, and not noisy at all.
