Uneven Tire Wear - Anyone else had issues?

I am on Kumho Ecsta 245-35-20 and the insides of my rear tires have worn out unevenly and quicker then the rest of the tire, if you run your hand over it, its jagged, kind of like this ^^^^^

Due to this, I can feel slight vibration, and road noise - but when on my stock 17's (FWD) no issues.

My alignment was checked - its perfect, so I am not sure what the issue is?

Anyone else here experience problems ? Everyone here that put rims is on 20's on 245-35-20 so I don't get it.

Any help please?

How often did you rotate them front to back. One thing I noticed with my 20's is that the rears do look cambered inside more than normal, even though alignment is correct. I was told to simply rotate more often to even out any possible uneven wear.

It's called cupping. It usually happens to the rear tires on FWD cars when you don't rotate them enough...

But if I do rotate on a regular basis - then eventually all 4 tires will be messed up at some point with more wearing down on the insides?

How come I don't notice or see this happen to the stock 17's?

That's not true. The reason for tire rotations is to promote even wear. Every corner of the vehicle wears tires differently due to weight distributions, driving characteristics, etc. When you don't rotate your tires this wear is speed up and exaggerated.

As for why it didn't happen to your OE...First, how long did you have them on the vehicle for? Was it long enough for any kind of wear pattern to actually develop? Second, the OE tires that come on the TL, whether they were Bridgestone or Michelin, are much higher quality tires than Kumho's. Higher quality tires are better engineered products that are less prone to wear patterns like cupping.

When ever you are running a wide tire, uneven tire wear can be an issue.
Try these from the rack:
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2

^^ Really? I've got them on my Legend Type II's and they don't seem that bad. Granted I think they are closer to all seasons than summers as they are still unusually sticky at 35/40F. Can you elaborate a bit?

Falken FK-452's are junk. Pretty much all Falken tires other than the RT-615's are junk. Kumhos are junk too. I would stay away from anything not made by the major brands honestly. You get what you pay for in tires. Michelin and Bridgestone make the best tires. Tied for second would would be Goodyear, Pirelli, Yokohama and Continental. Yes, you pay more for these brands but you get what you pay for.

BTW, Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's are one of the best tires ever made but if you don't drive you car hard they will be a waste of money since half of what you're paying for is insane dry traction.

Might I suggest the Bridgestone Potenza RE-760 Sports? Decent treadwear. More than enough performance for the average Joe. Fairly quiet. Impeccable build quality. Reasonably priced...I've sold quite a few sets of them to my customers and they all seem very pleased. Just installed them on my brother's car and he loves them. My car will be getting them come Spring if nothing else better suited for my needs is released by then. They also have an asymetrical tread design that can be rotated front-back and side-side.

BTW, even the best tires in the world will still wear poorly if not properly maintained. Run your tires with a little bit of extra air to keep the uneven/abnormal wear off of the shoulders. Rotate them every 5,000 miles. Have your alignment checked annually.
